And we are in a new month! Good morning Pixlpeeps, I kind of forgot this was a new month until I created a folder for this entry’s pictures. It is a new week which means an update on what I have been playing this past week as well as a review of what happened in April

I started eight games, and three pieces of DLC in April, and finished five games and all three pieces of DLC. During this time I also realized the game AaAaAA!! A Reckless Disregard for Gravity isn’t a game I like even though when I saw it for sale I thought it would be fun. Full Blast I haven’t played in a couple of weeks (I went through a mini shoot’em up phase) and Kung Fu Strike I play occasionally. I did knock down two more games off Mount Backlog

Colin McRae Rally – Steam

I finished the season and unlocked everything so my game was at 100% and there was a last mega series for the final regular achievement. This is where apparently it’s fun to drive a car that all of a sudden handles like it’s on ice. After the second series of races where I squeaked out a win I wondered if I was in that competition because it was fun or because I wanted the achievement. It was for the achievement and that really doesn’t matter so I stopped the game right there. I unlocked all the events, and cars, and my progress says 100%, why continues with a group of races that isn’t fun? I consider this game finished.

Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare – PS4

My original plan was to buy this on PC because Best Buy had a sale on the physical copy for $10. When I went to the Best Buy a day later I realized the sale was over and I was bummed. I hit the local mall across the street and while roaming around GameStop I spotted a copy of the game. It was a Day One Edition but my copy (and case) was a vanilla copy. I really don’t care because I figured I might just give this game to my cousin when I am done with it anyways. I had it install while I watched TV because PS4 apparently likes to take its time downloading the update files for it.

After an hour it was time to give this game a try and at first I was put off by the futuristic take on warfare. I was calling it the Halo Origins and breezed through three missions before I called it a night. The next day I decided to give it a go again and this time I went through a chunk of the game before taking a break and checking out what Playstationtrophies says how many levels are left. It turns out there were only three more that I needed. I came back to the game later on that night and knocked out the final three levels.

Overall I thought the story was satisfying. You already had an idea of what is going to happen just based on who is on the back cover. The combat was fine except it felt like the enemy was a bullet sponge at times, and the variety of missions was actually decent. The flying didn’t feel as fluid but it wasn’t a deal breaker. The game was fine, but I thought it was too short, and after playing through the first level again just to try and collect all the intel I figured it was best to put this game behind me and move on to the next one. I guess I have to wait for a price drop on Call of Duty Black Ops III. Oh I forgot to mention I actually did well in this game where I didn’t get dizzy after the first level. I think I’m getting used to playing FPS games.

Other games I played

NBA 2K15 – PS4

I just went through the All Star Break and I am ready to finish out the regular season. I made a trade where I sent Enes Kanter and his expiring contract to the Orlando Magic for their starting PF (I forgot his name) and the Rocket’s First Round Pick. I stockpiled a ton of First Round picks so I’m debating on packaging a couple of them and maybe OJ Mayo for a young up and coming Shooting Guard…or make a run for LeBron. We shall see.

Nail’d – Steam

I think I mentioned I bought this game for like a buck and I’ve been playing it off and on (I think I started it in April but I will list it under May in my list), anyways I’m still in the early stages of the game and I am still in the Rookie League of races. It’s a game I can play maybe one or two races before I get tired of it.

Grid Showdown – Steam

Since I finished Colin McRae I moved up another off road racing game and I had Grid Showdown in the pen of games to be played. I played a couple of races and a version of Demolition Derby. To be honest I think the Demolition Derby is terrible and it should be a multiplayer game instead of part of a career mode. The other races are fine, with some colorful unconventional vehicles. We shall see if it continues to be interesting as I progress within the game.

In other gaming news I found my Vita charger so I can give my Vita some play time. At some point I want to tackle the strategy games I bought a couple of weeks ago. My copy of Doom BFG I bought for $3 on Amazon is finally shipping and I should get it by Wednesday.  Today I’m going to dig in the game closet for the rest of my PC games and install a couple of them

Well I am off, have a good week!

That’s all for now, more later!

-Chris

I've been thinking about buying some older current gen games for consoles this month that I missed like the definitive Dishonored and GTA etc. and I might pick up NBA2K too.  I would really like to play one of those, it's been years, honestly.

Its a good time to pick up early PS4, and especially last gen games. They're dropping in price and its a good time to get them now before they disappear. The sports games are always going to be cheap if they're older. I haven't noticed much difference between NBA 2K14 and 2K15.

I think Grid was free this week on Xbox Gold.
