In which an entire weekend is lost to The Division, some good used books are bought and Showtime music documentaries are my favorite thing.

Where it not for the occasional allergy attack which ruined my Saturday morning, the close to this past week wasn't that bad. Aside from the sleep patterns that get to get more crazier and unpredictable (some days I'll get a nice 7 hours, some days it'll be 4-5; I tend to take short naps at work - but not in any of the classroms, mind you. Wink), work is managable. It's also taken on a flavor of positivity as there is now 3 more school days until the year is concluded and next week, I'll transition to summer work and day hours. It'll be nice to have a schedule that's more normal.

In terms of gaming, the last couple of weekends were mostly dedicated to Tom Clancy's The Division on the PS4. During the who-knows-how-many-hours sessions, I managed to reach level 14. While there are some really impressive aspects to the game, it suddenly has hit that point of repetition and boredom for me, long before I've reached the level cap or done anything in the PVP section, aka The Dark Zone. That's okay for me. This was just a rental, a test run to see what all the hubbub was about. I had plenty of good online matchmaking sessions (in missions both successful and less so) and there's plenty to do solo. I'm going to send this back to Gamefly tomorrow. Hopefully, I can get Ratchet & Clank or Uncharted 4 or Doom or Overwatch. Any one of those would be great.

In the meantime, I can resume Batman: Arkham Origins on the 360. I didn't get terribly far in my first playthrough but I'm looking forward to this one. Don't know why I skipped it. Maybe because Rocksteady didn't develop it?

My public library had a big book sale yesterday and I snagged some good stuff for $6. All hardbacks were 50 cents and paperbacks were 25 cents. Dvds were 50 cents too. Anyways, for $6:
- Autobiography of Mark Twain, Volume 1
- Black Dahlia by James Ellroy
- A Walk Among The Tombstones by Lawrence Block
- Nixon, An Oliver Stone Film (annotated screenplay with archival material and commentary)
- Veronica Mars: The Thousand Dollar Tan Line by Rob Thomas and Jennifer Graham
- Ulysses by James Joyce (Modern Library edition) (what I'm doing with this monster, I don't know)
- Lars Von Trier's Antichrist, Criterion Collection 2-disc DVD set
- Monster's Inc., 2-disc dvd set
- Dark Blue (crime film about a corrupt LAPD officer played by Kurt Russell)

Recently watched Spike Lee's documentary Michael Jackson's Journey from Motown to Off The Wall via Showtime and it's truly brilliant. I've already reloaded the album onto my iPod and will listen to it again later today. But it's so well made: the archival material, the interviews and of course the music. You come away with great appreciation for the album and Jackson's artistry.
I started watching Nas: LIfe is Illmatic (about the creation of his solo debut album) before I got sleepy but it was good as well. Showtime has plenty of great documentaries through their on demand streaming service. I really want to check out the Tower Records documentary All Things Must Pass as well.

Since I'm feeling better today, I'll go see the new Shane Black film, The Nice Guys. Can't wait.
Enjoy your Sunday and the rest of the week!

The thing is in The Divison, once you reach level 30 in the game you  have to get your gear score up. The Dark Zone has a higher level cap and is impossible to level up by yourself in there.

I wanna see The Nice Guys as well. It's gotten great reviews and looks hilarious. I have yet to play The Division. I just recently bought Destiny and Doom. I need to sit down and play those when I get back from my small trip. I want Overwatch but it's on the wait list.

I really like Oliver Stone's Nixon.  It might not be totally historically accurate, but it gets a real feal for American madness.

I'm really tempted to see Nice Guys. The 70s look of it is done so well.
