I wanted to see Star Trek Beyond this weekend but it didn't happen. Next weekend for sure.

So, let's get my bellyaching out of the way: as of this posting, my custodial team and I are in the last week of stripping and waxing floors for 2 buildings of the school district where I work. The past month or so saw an uptake in work activity and the waxing has fallen mostly on my shoulders (long story, don't want to recount it here) so the nights have been longer and the majority of my time at home has been sleeping. I've fallen behind on housework, gaming gets regulated to the weekends, I haven't watched all the movies and tv shows that I've wanted to and honestly, I spend most of the time sleeping on my couch, falling asleep to Youtube videos (which has to be the new all-time low).
I've felt really unproductive and it has truly sucked that, among other things, I haven't posted a new podcast episode since March or posted a blog here for even longer. Now that the end is in sight, I'm feeling rejuvenated and while my team and I make that final push this week, I want to post more content so here's to hoping that I remain committed.
Recently in gaming, it's been mostly Overwatch and Witcher 3 (a new playthrough in which I've got a firmer grasp on certain aspects of the game, namely combat and sometimes (?) Gwent). Before my Gamefly account expired last month, I did finish the campaign of Uncharted 4 and it was such a satisfying experience. I loved the story, the characters and the coda made me smile and smile and smile. Enjoyed the gameplay too although the gunplay will never be a strong suit. I did hook up with some friends for my first few hours into MP where I was such a noob and we got our asses handed to us.
Recent film viewings, what little there were? Legend of Tarzan is the most recent release and I found it to be quite good, better than expected for a Tarzan film. Good cast, good direction and a story that handles the more dated elements of Tarzan with greater care than you'd think. A solid 2 hours of entertainment. Also enjoyed 13 Hours and Everybody Wants Some (new candidate for favorite film of the year so far). Of course, the 3 hour cut of Batman V Superman came out and I bought it digitally (will buy physical soon) and as someone who liked the theatrical cut but found some plot aspects wanting, the added footage addressed the majority of those problems. I may be in the minority here in terms of those who liked the film but I'm glad the film exists and if there's a silver lining, the recent trailers for Justice League and Wonder Woman shows that BvS is effectively transitioning the DCCU into something more like MCU but with its own style intact. It's still exciting to be a comic book film fan.
The best news of all? I just posted a new solo episode of The Past and The Pending! It's a 30 minute solo episode where I discuss selected NES and SNES titles that I rented in the late 80;s and first half of the 90's. I hope everyone enjoys it: avidacridjam.podbean.com
And yes, it's still available in iTunes if you prefer that or the Podbean app.
Have a good week, everyone!
