yeah I'm pretty impressed.  I prefer handhelds, so it's right up my alley.

If it really does intermarry portable and TV gaming with the ease Nintendo promises, and has the game library to back it up, it has the potential to be one of the best systems ever. There were so many DS/3DS games that I always thought, "too bad you can't play these on a TV."

Yes! That's why that accessory that attached to the GameCube that let you play Advance games on the TV was so amazing. I can't remember what it was called. But if this system can do that, they've really got a winner on their hands.

I had the GBA player, and before that the Super Game Boy on SNES. The latter brought new fun to OG GB classics like Zelda, Metroid II, Kid Icarus, Final Fantasy Adventure/Legends, as well as the re-releases of Dragon Warrior that came on GBC. The GBA player was great for all of the robust games like FF Tactics Advance, Sword of Mana, Minish Cap, and the Castlevanias.

I also have a PSTV, which similarly lets me play PS Vita and PSP games on my TV screen, and a lot of those games were definitely suited to console play.

But if you can have games on parity with other full console games like Breath of the Wild or Fallout 4 that can be easily played on the go, that's a whole new level of awesome.

I think it looks really amazing. I wonder how much battery life they are going to be giving it but I am sure they will give more details later as well.

But the concept of it is amazing! I am probably going to wait till 2018 to get one just to see how launch does and wait and see what games come out for it/more of a selection to choose from .

yeah i think Nintendo really hit it out of the park. I mean, there may be caveats down the road, who knows?  But it looks GOOD.

I'm excited to see where this console goes. Ever since 2014, i've kept caution when it comes to hype, but overall the console is giving me a good impression. Hopefully it also gets software powerful enough to run the games well.

what happened in 2014 to u man?

For once, games I was interested about got released to mix reactions, mostly having to do with releasing trailers and such that made the game look different from the release product in the worst way possible.

That and i'd rather experience a product by not knowing too much and be surprised in a good pleasant way.

yeah I usually keep my hype down on things too.  Except for maybe Star Wars movies.  :)

I mentioned this on another board, but I like the concept, and the commerical looks promising. My one concern is the battery life of when you go portable. I think it could be close to tablet life, but when you're playing games that need a lot of juice it could be short game life between charges. I'm interested to see Nintendo's answer when they release the specs. Overall I'm excited to see where Nintendo takes this.

yeah we'll see about battery life and screen rez, storage, etc......

I think they took the Wii-U and said: "how can we make this even gimmickier?" Kinda looks like more modern Nintendo trash to me.

yeah, yeah, yeah....

I'm concerned about the sturdiness of the thing, but I can't wait to hear more announcements so I can find out.  Especially when they announce more games, as that's what interests me the most about new consoles.  I don't know why they couldn't have announced this earlier, though.  Oh well.

I don't know why they were so secretive either, but I suppose they had their reasons....

Portability hasn't really been a thing I really need for gaming, but when I do, I usually want something pocket sized. The Switch is a little bit large for that. I'll stick to my 3DS/Vita. But, I'll be watching for exclusive games for the system I want to play on my TV. I hope there will be more good stuff than what was on the Wii-U. I'm going to buy a Wii-U this holiday, but I swear I have like only 3 or 4 games I want to play on it.

Matt Snee Staff Writer

10/24/2016 at 05:13 PM

yeah the wii u was kind of a dud.  THere're some good games though, just nothing exceptional.

I started looking at the cheap games for the system, but there aren't too many. Prices don't come down much for Nintendo systems.

no, they dont. Nintendo seems to get away with that.
