HELL AND DAMNATION I MISSED A DAY

*sigh* Anyway...

Special/collector's edition releases of video games can vary wildly in both pricing and extra perks. Take Infamous Second Son and Titanfall for instance; Infamous' CE release ($80) offers you a bit of DLC, and tschohkes like a beanie and stickers, while Titanfall ($200) gives you a massive 18" Titan replica, a poster, and full hardcover artbook nearly 200 pages long.

So my question is: have you ever bought any collector's edition games? If so, why? If not, what would compel you to get one (if anything)?

dammit man, you were doing so good!

I missed a day too.  oh well.

I bought the collector's edition to the original FFXIV before Realm Reborn.  I also bought one for Persona 4 too I think.

I have not yet but mostly just because I didn't have the money. Depending on the price and the extras that are included, if I can afford it and the perks are nice enough then I probably will. I actually was trying to get the collector edition of Tales of Xillia, but I waited too long and they ran out.

Not very frequently, largely because I don't buy many games at release. If it's for something I really love, like Zelda, I'll go all out. Wind Waker HD totally got me.

I've also got The Stick of Truth Grand Wizard Edition coming, but only because I got a price match at Best Buy for the same price as a regular copy of the game. I love me some South Park.

Strongly considered the CE of Dark Souls II, but it's just too damn expensive. I love art books, but don't care too much about (most) statues. If they had a mid-tier CE with just the art book, I would've bit on that for like $10 more.

I have bought Collectors Editions when I had extra cash.  But learned they are really not worth it.  I picked up Alien's colonial Marines (huge fan of the movies and bought in to to hype) The statue was pretty cool, but the game sucked lol.  I got Bioshock, God of War, and the Walking Dead too.

Honestly now I think they just aren't worth the money.  Titanfall looks spectacular.  I looked at the unboxing video.  The statue is awesome, but 250.00..... I don't think so.  lol  I really wanted to order the SouthPark one too.  It's a good price, but the Cartman figure is only 6".  Their is just no value to me in these editions.

Never bought one, and all I can say is it would have to seem worth the money to me. Closest I've come is a pre-order for Wind Waker that netted me a GCN disc with both Ocarina of Time and Master Quest

I go for the collector's editions if it's a game I think I will like.  I like soundtracks and art books.  I don't usually get the collector's editions that have statues.  They tend to be too expensive.  Over $100 for 1 game is too much for my blood.  I may not even like the game.  I avoid collector editions that are just dlc.

I will usually get a collector's edition if it is a game I want, has goodies I want, and isn't too expensive.

Only the ones that Atlus puts out, and only because they don't seem to release "regular" editions of the games I pick up.

I would go for the collectors edition more often, but half the time you can't put the package on the shelf with the rest of your game.  Tales of Xillia was huge.  So I prefer the pre order versions.  They give you more stuff, in better packaging, don't cost a fortune, and actually fit in your collection.

I've never bought a Collector's Edition but I almost did for Bioshock Infinite. Recently I was thinking I wished I'd gotten the Borderlands 2 one.

I've really wanted to but usually I chicken out given how I really don't wat to spend that kind of money on a game even if the extras are enticing. The games I've passed on for Extras is Turning Point: Fall of Liberty, Fallout 3, Fallout New Vegas and Bioshock 2. I liked what they offered but in the end I just couldn't spend $80+ to get them.

Plus I always get this bad feeling that the more extravigant the collector's editions are, the more likely the game suffers from some issue like bad coding or poor gameplay. (I'm looking at you Skyrim & Duke Nukem Forever.

Usually I'll go for the collector editions that don't offer much thus you only spend a little more in the long run. Lunar Silver Star harmoney with the bromide cards and music CD along with Under Defeat HD with their soundtrack/digital artbook are great examples of this.
