Filling in my collection

So I decided I was going to try remember back and add previous gen games to my profile collection.

I used the lists on Wikipedia as a reminder and I gotta say, it’s a lot of fun reminiscing about the good aul days. I'm not sure if I caught them all but I gave it a damn good shot. There were so many games that had completely slipped my mind that were a big part of my life for the longest time.

One game I completely forgot about was Ape Escape which I remember thinking was absolutely revolutionary. I used to think I would never get used to using thumbsticks.... Laughing

Ape Escape

How do I swing this again?

I'd recommend filling in your collection if you have the time/patience. I enjoyed it.

I like the way this site handles our game collections and how we're able to add them.  I've actually kept records of every game I've owned and sold - going as far back as the Atari 2600 - and it was rather painless uploading those text documents.

That said, it is fun to sift through whole release lists for the various consoles.  I've done it numerous times while seeking out new games to play and to remember why I left certain games behind.

I think I used to keep an old notepad with reviews on games I owned for the ps1. It'd be fun to find this actually. I can imagine my opinions on certain games have changed dramatically

If it's anything like the one I used to maintain, you might not want to find it.  I swear, I had nothing nice to say about the games I was playing a decade ago!

I used the add games from a text file option, and it was really easy adding all my games. Although I probably missed a couple. It took some time to make text files with notepad, but I like how you can add every game. Not like on 1up where they were missing a lot of games.

Yeah the system here works well. Much quicker to add

I remember rowing the boat in the water using the analog sticks and I would go round and round in circles....what a fun game.

Agreed. It was such an alien concept to me at the start

When I joined this site I sat down and made a list of all my games. Been adding them little by little ever since. Have about 280 right now,so it might take a little time. I have seen others who have collections that dwarf mine! If they can do it,so can I. I like it because it is not so much bragging as showing others your tastes. And what games you might be able to ask them about in the future. Oh,and I do own Ape Escape. That is a true original. Still holds up to this day.

Yeah agreed on not being about bragging. Its a quick way to see if you have similar tastes to someone

I have only two gripes about the game catalogging system here on Pixlbit (which was also a gripe on 1up) and that is, not everything I have is listed. Virtual boy is there, but Neo Geo Pocket Color (heck, every Neo Geo) and Wonderswan are conspicuously absent.....

Secondly, I can only enter three items at a time (and I haven't figured out the plain text thingie yet

I'll add these to the list of improvements I'll be working on. I can probably fix the add 3 issue pretty quickly. The plain text list is pretty simple - go to Notepad (or any other text editor) and list each game on their own line. Save the file and upload it via the little Paper with the plus icon link and they'll all be in there.

Also, if you can give me a list of all the systems you need added, I can get that done for you very quickly and easily. I kind of built the game collection thing for selfish reasons (read: to track my own collection), so the list of systems is basically limited to ones that I have games on.

Thanks for continuing to improve the site Nick. It's great for everyone that you're putting so much effort in

Glad to help! I love that you guys are using all of this stuff and are giving some great constructive feedback of exactly how it can be improved. That really makes it much easier for me because I know exactly what I have to do.

I've been trying to finish up private messaging and notifications for when followers post a blog or someone responds to a comment you wrote, but things are still crazy for me, what with the new job, moving into a new place (moving truck is coming today), and selling my place down in FL. We'll get there soon!

I used Wikipedia to remember my collection as well, but somehow missed that I had Sonic Colors for DS; I'm also not sure I believe that Pokemon Pinball is the only GBC game I own, but it's the only one I saw that I remember, and I have no clue where my GBC is ... or if the handheld itself was a rental, cause Blockbuster was still doing that at the time, but I'm pretty sure I owned Pinball so ... ???

Yeah I have a few vague memories of older games on the ps1 floating around. I'm waiting for my A-ha moment Laughing

I never owned the game but I did have a demo of it at one point and I thought it was such a fun game. I don't know why i never bought it.

I think if I remember correctly, one of my friends just gave this to me because he was fed up with it. Fine by me...
