Final Fantasy Type-O Getting a U.S. Release?

Posted on 12/01/2011 at 08:18 PM | Filed Under News

He specifically said overseas in the interview though, so I take that to mean that the game is getting ready for a localization. Obviously, his team wouldn't be translating it, and they're probably working on balancing (the game is supposed to be really tough) and additions for a NA version. And then I'm sure it will get re-released in Japan as FF Type-0 International.

I will be surprised if it gets released on UMD here, though. My money is on a PS3 port.

Square Enix Says to Expect More Deus Ex

Same here, on both counts. I was going to skip it until I read the reviews. I'm glad I played it. Interesting that about half the games mentioned are Western made. The times, they are a changin'.

Game Informer Reveals South Park: The Game

I think there's room for some really cool stuff with the South Park franchise in an RPG. People are tearing it apart on Twitter, but I know that Trey and Matt are big gamers, and South Park has tons of stuff that would work in an RPG. The recent Coon and Friends 3 parter alone is pretty epic.

This could be cool, but Obsidian seems to get these licensed properties and they don't go anywhere. I know they are supposed to be working on a Wheel of Time RPG, and I think they have one or two other projects in the wings. That's a lot for a smaller developer.

Remaining 3DS Ambassador Games Still Coming This Year

I thought the NES game selection was weak, but these GBA games make up for it. Now I wish I was in the Ambassador program...

GamePro is Coming to an End

As much as I adore the old EGM, I've had a hard time getting into the new one. I blame Brady Fiechter. The new EGM feels a lot like a Dave Halverson joint, and while I have nothing against him or his publications, GameFan/Play had a very different tone and approach than EGM under Davison, Hsu, or Mielke.

This is a real shame. Growing up, I read GamePro, but always preferred EGM, as it seemed to grow up with me. But when John Davison came on (one of my heroes), I really loved the direction the magazine took. GamePro had an amazing staff for a time, with Ray Barnholt, Justin Haywald, Jason Wilson, and Kat Bailey among others. I'm sad to see it go.

Ezio's Famous Garb to Appear in Final Fantasy XIII-2

I think it's at least a sign that SE is paying attention to Western games. It's probably an attempt to bring in a wider audience.

What? I mean, um, someone must have used a third-party recording device to mimic the sound of my voice. Yeah, that's it...

Vita to Possibly Support Multiple Tiered Pricing

Posted on 11/30/2011 at 05:01 PM | Filed Under News

I agree that B level games should be cheaper out of the gate. I've been saying that for years. A tiered pricing structure is fine, and makes sense in this new handheld market. But you can't have it both ways. You can't sell a game at close to full price and then expect people to pay extra for content that should have been part of the package to begin with. The Ridge Racer pricing is almost criminal, and I hope that isn't an indication of what's to come.
