Think Happy Thoughts, Think Happy Thoughts...

If it makes you feel any better at all, we've had much bigger protests over Trump than we have had celebrations over his presidency so far.  Hell, I live in the south and even though I know (and am related to) alot of Trump voters, it seems like a lot of his voters don't really support a lot of what he is doing or what he stands for. They just voted for him because they support traditional republican values (which of course he has not at all displayed over the course of his life, but that's another story...)

What are the 5 similar bans you are referring to?  The only one cited by Trump was from 2011 when there was a specific possible threat from Iraq, and it only applied to Iraq and wan't a even a complete ban, and also led to stronger vetting processess that are still currently in place right now (so not really similar at all to to what just happened).

Final Fantasy XV Review

Yeah, I've noticed the slowness in telling you what you picked up.  Also, sometimes I'll have to pick up each of 3 items individually, other times it seems to pick them all up at once.  I'm not sure why this occurs, since I can't tell that I'm doing anything differently.  And I'm completely with you on the multiple hunts.  They are boring enough anyways, so I would much prefer just to have all of them available to tackle whenever I am near one than have to keep going back between every single one.

Due to my compulsion to do every side quest (and most hunts) available, I am 30 hours into the game and have only just completed chapter 6.  I find myself mostly agreeing with this review though.  I really like the world, but it does get boring after awhile.  I think my need to do all the side quests has really exacerbated this issue and I am going to try to force myself to focus on the story for awhile before I burn myself out.

I also agree with alot of your combat issues.  I find myself mostly just quickly pushing the warp strike button until my MP depletes. While I don't really have problems with link strikes working, I have alot of issues with the camera.  Luckily the wait mode helps to get around this, but it's still a pretty big problem.

My main concern with the magic isn''t that it works like grenades, but rather the manner in which you have to fill it back up every time you deplete it.  It is annoying to have to take the time to go find a camp site, then either park and get out of the car or jump off my chocobo, and then have run to each of the 3 elemental deposits (which are often spaced rather far apart considering how slow you run) and then have to stop in front of them, make sure you face them correctly, and then drain them.

Speaking of that, I also have issues interacting with basically everything due to the camera.  I often find myself jumping 3 or 4 times while trying to interact with an item or a person.  Or when trying to talk to a person who also gives a quest it becomes annoying to have to line up the camera just right in order to select either 'talk' or 'quest' (and then sometimes it switches just a hair instantly before I press X, so I still choose the wrong one).

Despite all the complaining, like you I am still overall really enjoying the game.  The charm of the main characters and the beauty of the world have alot to do with it.

Just Got Real

I had it pre-ordered from amazon, and got an email on Sunday that is had been shipped and would arrive by 11/29. Yesterday I got the "arriving today by 8:00 PM" notice.  At 10:00 PM last night I still had the "arriving today by 8:00 PM" notice.  Today it just says "On the Way...Expected by Nov 29."  Yell

Hopefully I'll get it and be able to play it tonight.  I guess an "on the way" message is better than a "delivered" notice when you know it hasn't been delivered.  That's happened to me before (luckily amazon believed me and re-shipped it)

Pixlbit Questionare: Wii Edition

Posted on 11/23/2016 at 08:30 AM | Filed Under Blogs

I have great memories of the Wii, starting with how I got it.  My then-girlfriend (now wife) knew I wanted one really badly, so she ended up waiting for hours in lines in the morning at store openings to get me one for Christmas.  I think she said she went three times, but never got one. I had actually forgotten until right now as I'm writing this, but she finally ended up paying way too much on ebay for one. If I had known what she was was doing I would have told her it wasn't that important, but I really appreciated the gesture.

Also, it was a great time in my life to get one.  I had been out of college and working for about two years, but I was still living with my old college roomate and hanging out and drinking with friends most nights.  It was kind of the last year of my pre-adult life.  Once I got the Wii, we had a great many nights of playing Wii Sports.

I also got Zelda very early for it, and that was the last time that I played a video game with a frequent spectator (my then-roomate).  I miss the days of watching friends play games or having them watch me.  Although my wife doesn't mind the rather large amount of time I still play games, there is no way she is going to watch me as I play through them.

Although as the years went on I played it less and less, I still have about a couple dozen games for it.  Sadly, it's been gathering dust the last few years ever since I quit playing Xenoblade Chronicles.

Short Update Before the World Ends

Yeah, the two party system sucks. I'm also not really happy with the two major independent candidates either. I'm sure I'll be fine with a Clinton presidency.  I just don't like her much personally.

I own one other Ys game on the vita, but haven't played it yet.

As an American who more often than not votes Democratic, I'm still not particularly happy about voting for Clinton, but Trump made it impossible not to. My state (North Carolina) is a battleground state which as of right now is still up for grabs, so I'm still pretty nervous. I'll stop there, because the majority of the commentors on this site seem pretty politically conservative.

That Ys game was really fun. I started it a couple months ago, but for some reason put it down without finishin it. I need to start it up again.

I'm a big fan of Halloween and horror too, and always try to watch a bunch of horror movies leading up to Halloween. I actually just watched Cabin in the Woods last night for the first time since it came out and liked it even better the second time.  The only other movie you listed that I've seen is the Evil Dead remake, and I agree that it's one of the best remakes I've seen.  I didn't watch it this Halloween, but over the last few weeks I re-watched the Evil Dead trilogy so I could then watch the Ash vs Evil Dead series from the first season up to the current episodes.  I'm really digging that show.

Saturday night I watched The Witch, which I had heard great things about.  It was pretty good, but I didn't enjoy it as much as I had hoped.  It probably didn't help that it was extremely difficult for me to undestand what the hell they were saying (it takes place in 17th century New England), so I eventually had to turn sub-titles on.  Still a good movie though.

Friday night I re-watched The Babadook, and that was another movie I enjoyed even more the second time.  I also watched half of the Poltergeist remake.  I'll probably finish that up soon.  It seems okay.  It's not nearly as bad as it's been made out to be, but also seems kind of pointless.  I'm not sure why they felt the need to remake the film.
