Other than opening up puzzle pieces and being able to progress in the Mii games to get tickets to get hats for your Mii but if you're not into that. Then I say take your Vita instead and get some cool import games or the 64GB memory card while you are there.
What a crazy schedule. Did you take any handhelds to pass the time? You'll find some one. It's good that you are taking it slow you don't want to jump into something to quickly. Believe me your every guy gamer's dream a girl that plays games :)
I would take my 3DS if for no other reason than imagine all the street passes you'll get. Gamewise that's a tough one depending on what kind of games you enjoy. If your into RPG's for sure take Pokemon or Bravely Default. Now that I think about it maybe the Vita would be best just because you could buy games and instantly play them there. Since they are not region locked like the 3DSs. But dem street passes tho! AHH I don't know I'd take both.
I got lucky and scored a copy of Ninja Gaiden and Retro Game Challenge for the DS and both were less than $10. Holy cow that's a crazy haircut.

I think I got Quantom Conundrum when they gave it out as a free PSN+ game. Might have to check it out since I've finished both POrtal one and Portal 2. And dammit if that pup isn't the cutest.

Nintendo: They either drop the price on the Wii U to $199 with a choice of first party game. Or they reveal their version of streaming service that includes games from all the Nintendo consoles. Or else the rumor turns out to be true that they are releasing a new combo system that is both portable and home console.
Sony: They show Last Guardian and it will be on store shelves this Christmas. They announce a continued collaboration with Valve and show a teaser trailer for Portal 3 and Dota on the PS4 with mouse and Keyboard support. The rumor is confirmed that there is a PS4/Vita bundle.
Microsoft: They reveal that they have joined/or are collaborating with Oculus rift to make VR a staple in gaming. They show a demo of a game playing on an Xbox One with a Kinect tracking your movements to put you in a game. They announce games from the people who turned their Xbox One into dev kits.

Good luck with your podcast. I used to have Gamefly but after getting PS+ and the slew of free games I get there. I decided to cancel it. Gamefly is great for buying games also. I've bought a few and whenever I get the cases they are in prestine condition with any DLC or codes that come with the game still unised.
