Sony Drops Some Bombs at E3 2013

The PS4's opening salvo for the console wars is a lethal one.

The legacy of the PlayStation brand is an interesting one. Back in 1995, Sony was the scrappy underdog, and fought tooth and claw to ascend to the top of the video game heap, crippling Sega and putting Nintendo on shaky ground for the first time ever. The PlayStation 2 cemented their dominance over the market, with tons of instant classics released for the console. But by 2005, Sony had gotten soft, comfortable at the top. Their hubris was easy to see, and even the biggest PlayStation fans have to agree that they made some bone-headed moves at the beginning of the PS3’s life cycle. If one thing was made abundantly clear at Sony’s E3 press conference, it’s that they’ve come to reclaim their fans, as well as win over a whole new host of them.

inFAMOUS 2 Review

I don't know what's more shocking: Cole's powers or the fact that he still hangs out with Zeke.

With the production costs of video games increasing by leaps and bounds as the years go on, platform-exclusive titles are going the way of the dinosaur. Somehow though, Sony has managed to recover from the rocky start of the PlayStation 3 and has secured some really great exclusive games. Developer Sucker Punch is responsible for one of those all-new PS3 IPs, with the inFAMOUS games. While they saw some success with Sly Cooper on the PS2, that franchise never quite “popped” like Ratchet & Clank and the Jak games. It looks like inFAMOUS was just what the upstart developer needed to make it to that next level, and the sequel to the 2009 debut cements the series as one of the best exclusives on the PS3.

Now they can be bought individually.

Well, if you haven't picked up the collection yet, here's another way to get your Cooper fix.

inFAMOUS 2: Festival of Blood Review

There's a bloody good time to be had in New Marais.

There has been this perception that Festival of Blood was DLC; that it was some kind of small addition to inFAMOUS 2 which was released earlier this year.  It's an easy assumption to make since FoB takes place in New Marais, the New Orleans of InFAMOUS’ fictional world and the setting of Cole’s second adventure.  It would only make sense that you would need to have a copy of the game in order to enjoy this expansion, but the lovely folks at Sucker Punch Productions wanted to gift the entire PlayStation 3 community with this gem and as such released it as a stand-alone title.

inFAMOUS 2 Hands On Preview

A sequel that seems to have improved in every way from an already great game.

When inFamous was released in 2009, it took the gaming world by storm. It was a super-hero inspired game that used open world mechanics along with a deep story and strong morale choices to catch the eyes of many gamers. inFamous was met with critical acclaim, and now the team at Sucker Punch seeks out to top the first game in each and every way with inFamous 2. From my hands on with the game, I feel that it truly lives up to that expectation.
