Microsoft, Double Helix break 16-year combo of no sequels
Killer Instinct was one of the bigger surprises to come from Microsoft's E3 press conference, and information is beginning to trickle in about how the long-absent fighting game will shape up when it is released alongside the Xbox One in November.
Too bad this was before Diddy had a rocket barrel...
Sometimes, it seemed a bit odd how quickly Nintendo used new characters to star in spin-off games. A bit less than two short years after his debut game, Donkey Kong's nephew Diddy Kong switched his pursuit of tasty bananas to silver coins in this kart racer from the once-proud Rareware. Even stranger, Donkey Kong himself is nowhere to be found. Weirder still, most of the other characters are original creations just for this game. Regardless, this ragtag racing team appeared in a game that offered just enough variation from Mario Kart 64 to have made it worth a look.
We've all had one of those days...
Truly unique. A very memorable experience. When describing any other game, these phrases would likely be taken as a compliment. But Conker’s Bad Fur Day isn’t just any other game, it’s a twisted take on the generally cheerful worlds of the typical platformer. Chalk full of blood and gore, alcohol and drug use, and more curse words than an episode of South Park, it ranges from a clever parody to sickening immaturity. The gameplay itself contains some interesting ideas, but it ultimately falls short of reaching its full potential.
Memories and some of my favorite games
Today is the 15th anniversary of the Nintendo 64 being released in the United States. It was the first console I got around launch time. My mother got me one from someone she worked with no longer than a month or so after it first came out. The N64 is a darling to Nintendo fans and to those who love games with a whimsical quality and an emphasis on multiplayer. I have a, shall we say, complicated impression of the Nintendo 64, but one that is shaped by great memories of playing great games with my friends.
Hardcorps
On the surface, Blast Corps. may seem like nothing more than a mindless demolition game. Upon further inspection, it becomes apparent that it is also a strategy, arcade, racing, and puzzle game mixed into one. Few games can be called truly unique, but there isn't much else out there like Blast Corps.
