Choose the Winner: Sh*tty Game Review Fest 2014!

Now that all of the reviews have been posted, you, the reader can choose this year's winner.

Well, PixlBit's first Sh*tty Game Review Fest is officially in the books and from it, we've received four outstanding reviews. Julian Titus told us about ancient aliens, or was it something about Rome? Who can remember, but what we know for sure is that it didn't involve Matt R's travels through Wii shovelware via a Dodge Ram. And while a Dodge Ram is pretty manly, I'm not sure it grows the beard quite like playing dress-up with Chris and his Disney Princesses. Indie PC Gaming for the Console Connoisseur

Publishers: A Necessary Evil

A recent update from Double Fine gets Jesse thinking that maybe publishers aren't completely useless after all.

It’s been a little over a year since Kickstarter kicked down the door of the video game industry and introduced itself.  Double Fine’s then untitled adventure game utilized the crowd funding site to finance a game in a genre that most have presumed dead, or at least mostly dead (which means a little alive), for quite some time now.  No reasonable publisher would hand money over to a studio not known to be especially financially successful, for an unproven IP in a genre that some younger gamers may not even know exists – and it’s hard to blame them.

Five Indie Games You Need To Try

You owe it to yourself to give these games a shot.

With the deluge of games being released all year long, none of us can complain about not having anything to play.  But therein lies another problem: trying to keep up with all of the great games out there.  The big releases with primetime TV ads are hard to miss, but it’s easy to overlook the little guys that can be just as, if not more fun than their bigger AAA cousins.

Why Portal 2 Has Me Worried

Can the sequel possibly live up to the original?

As most gamers know first-hand at this point, Portal was an absolutely fantastic game. It combined a great new mechanic with innovative puzzles, a strong story, charm and an extremely strong main character. The magic of Portal didn't lie in just one of the elements, each and every part of the game played into why it was so enjoyable. This, in essence, is why I am worried about Portal 2.
