UPDATE: Atlus Asks Fans if They Want Another Run of Radiant Historia

The publisher goes to the social network to test the waters.

UPDATE: Ask and you shall receive.  Atlus has announced that due to popular demand, they will be running a second printing of Radiant Historia.  The second printing will go live sometime in March and will be available at EB Games and Amazon.com.  It is possible that the game will be made available through other outlets, but we cannot confirm that at this time.  Below is the original story as it was reported on February 3, 2012.

As a publisher, Atlus isn’t known for giant runs of their games.  Some of their more commercial fare like Catherine or Demon’s Souls are the recipients of respectable run numbers, but their smaller, more niche titles, like Radiant Historia get limited runs which result in the game going from anywhere from $70 to $150 for a new copy on eBay just a year after it was released.

It may be because of this demand that Atlus is apparently toying with the idea of giving the DS title a second print.  The publisher asked fans of its Facebook page if they would be game to pick up a copy if a second printing were to become a reality.

If the response is any indicator, it’s a real possibility that we could see a second printing of the RPG in the not so distant future.  Are you interested in a second printing?  Let us know your thoughts in the comments section.

Selfishly, I like the idea that I own a rare game, but I would also love for more people to be able to experience it.

The only thing I fear is that it would be passed over by people that would have bought it a year ago.  I mean, it's on what is now considered to be outdated hardware, and while the 3DS is compatable with DS games, How many gamers, other than hardcore JRPG fans would really buy it?

Unless they think they can benefit from a small print run, I don't think it would be in their corporate best interest, but I guess to answer the question, yes I would like to see it happen.

I really hope they do. Radiant Historia is one of my favorite DS games and one of the most interesting JRPG's that ive played this console generation, yet it was near impossible for me to find. If they release it again, id pick it up for sure.

I am one of those that wanted to play the game, but couldn't find a reasonably priced copy.  No way I'm paying $70 for a DS game, even if it's a particularly good DS game.  I'm really hoping this second run comes to fruition so I can pick it up.

Why would fans want another print run? Fans already bought the game.

With all the high praise I've heard about the game, I'd probably pick up a copy were another run to happen. I'm no fan of handhelds so I'm not willing to pay much for a DS game, so a high price is certainly out of the question. I don't think a second print run would be large enough to devalue the game once the second run is sold out; there will still likely be more people who want it than copies available.

I love it when stuff like this happens.  Already ordered a copy on Amazon.  Don't want to miss out on this one a second time.

Im extremely happy about this, but sadly my money is kinda tight for now, meaning that I have to wait a bit before being able to order comfortably. Not to mention, Mass Effect 3, SFxT and Tales of Graces f all come out in March and I just hope that Ill have enough to squeeze Radiant Historia in there.

Still, no game's introduction has drawn me in quite like in this game.

I decided to order this game as well, even though I don't know anything about it. It just gets talked about a lot. Don't let me down, guys!
