Namco Bandai's Project K Unveiled

Many were surprised to learn that it isn't a Tales game.

A while ago, a teaser page popped up on Namco Bandai's website for a mysterious title known only as Project K. Since the page was directly linked to other titles in Namco Bandai's Tales series, many were expecting an announcement for a new Tales game.

However some recently surfaced details, leaked by Famitsu, revealed that the game is not part of the Tales series, but rather a new game based around the popular Japanese icon Keroro, entitled Keroro RPG: Kishi to Musha to Densetsu no Kaizoku. Which according to Andriasang translates to "Knight, Warrior and Legendary Pirate."

Those familiar with manga and anime will know Keroro well, as he has starred in many forms of media since 1999. His story consists of a desire to invade and conquer Earth, but while on a mission with an army of his soldiers, he is captured by a human family and forced to do odd jobs around their house. The series is very well known for its Japanese pop culture references, as well as its reputation for parodying other animes.

In the new game, Keroro finds a mysterious game machine, which upon returning to town and booting it up, transports all of the enemies within the system to the real world. In the same respect, Keroro, along with the five well known members of his platoon, are transported into the game world. The five members must now find a way out by traveling through the games many worlds. Some locations players will experience are a desert and pirate ship.

The game itself is being developed by Tales Studio, and will feature many of the same elements of the popular Tales series, such as Linear Motion Battle. Combat will take place in a 2D fashion with characters having the ability of using special abilities, one of which will physically transform them.

This new Keroro RPG is set to release in Japan during some point in 2010 for the DS.
