Nintendo Power Reveals New Info on Prince of Persia: The Forgotten Sands

The Wii version will be built from the ground-up and will contain a few unique elements.

The latest issue of Nintendo Power features brand new information on the Wii version of the upcoming Prince of Persia: The Forgotten Sands.

The Wii version will be built from the ground-up and will not be a port of any other version of the game. Ubisoft decided that a port was not the proper way to develop the game, and mandated that their developers create the game from scratch.

As such, the game will run at a constant 60 frames per second and will feature a two player co-op mode that is similar to Super Mario Galaxy's.

A new item, the Sand Ring, will allow players to create a handhold at any wall by pointing with the Wii Remote's IR pointer and then pressing the B button. Only one handhold can be created at a time.

During the game's platform segments, there will be a faint blue line that show's where the prince can reach and if it will be possible for the prince to make the jump. While, this mechanic sounds as if it would make the game easier, it has been implemented in lieu of the ability to rewind time. As the game progresses, there will be complex portions where players must use a combination of sand powers to succeed.

Attacking in the Wii version will be done with a swing of the Wii Remote, emulating the Prince's swing of his sword. To punch, players will have to swing the Nunchuk. All other actions will be performed by buttons.

Prince of Persia: The Forgotten Sands will be available on Wii, PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, PC, DS, and PSP on May 11.
