<title>Episode 17: Distant Worlds</title>
<description>
Welcome back to Digital Mystery Tour. With the recent release of Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn, it seemed like a perfect time to look back at some of my favorite songs from the previous online Fantasy: XI. I&#39;m a little under the weather, so I let the music do the talking for me, and close things out with a couple tracks from A Realm Reborn. If you have fond memories of FF XI, you may want to check out the Nerds Without Special I did earlier in the year, which features a ton more of the game&#39;s soundtrack, as well as some fun and touching stories. Enjoy, and I realize the bagpipes in the San d&#39;Oria theme can be a tad grating on the ears, but what can I say? It&#39;s home to me.
THIS WEEK&#39;S MUSIC:
00:00: Memoro de la Stono
05:07: The Kingdom of San d&#39;Oria
09:43: The Sanctuary of Zi&#39;tah
13:57: Selbina
16:14: Distant Worlds
22:47: Gridania
26:36: Battle Theme (FF XIV: A Realm Reborn)

<title>Episode 16: Guitar Heroes</title>
<description>
I said, ARE YOU READY TO ROCK?! Boy, I sure hope so, because I&#39;ve got some video game tracks that will melt your face off! I&#39;ll admit that I&#39;m relatively new to rock music, as I was raised on the music of the &#39;40s, &#39;50s, and &#39;60s, but in recent years I&#39;ve really learned to rock out. So I wanted to share some of that love to you, the listeners. Unfortunately, I couldn&#39;t fill a brandy glass with nothing but brown M&#38;amp;Ms, so Ozzy didn&#39;t go on. Sorry about that. Oh, and here&#39;s that amazing music video by Tomoyasu Hotei. Enjoy!
THIS WEEK&#39;S MUSIC:
00:04 Final Fantasy X- Otherworld
05:30 Super Street Fighter 2 Turbo (MS DOS)- Ken
08:43 Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance- It Has to be This Way
14:37 Chrono Cross- Magical Dreamers
18:48 UmJammer Lammy- Fright Flight
23:22 Onimusha 2- Russian Roulette
28:05 Alan Wake- Children of the Elder God
32:55 Gitaroo Man- Overpass
34:42 Gitaroo Man- The Legendary Theme (Album version)

<title>Episode 15: Balance and Ruin</title>
<description>
Recently I heard a new fan project by the fine folks over at OverClocked Remix. it&#39;s a 4 disk set of music inspired by (read: covers of music from) Final Fantasy VI. If you&#39;ve got any nostalgia for the game, any love for the series, if you&#39;re a fan of Uemastu or if you even like good music in general, you really owe it to yourself to check it out.
Now, of course, I&#39;ve got a 30 minute show here, so you&#39;re not going to hear the entire album. What I&#39;ve done instead is try to give you a pretty good sample of what to expect. Naturally, there&#39;s much much more on the actual product, including work from many more artists reflecting quite a few different styles of music. You can grab it for free from&#38;nbsp;their site, and again, I highly recommend it.

Tracklist:&#38;nbsp;
00:13 - Prologue - Bustatunez
06:35 - A Fistfull of Nickles - zircon, XPRTNovice, Jillian Aversa, Jeff Ball
10:48 - Gobble, Snarf, Snap - XPRTNovice
14:57 - A Simple Coin Flip Can Change Fate - Level 99
20:44 - The Impresario - Jake Kaufman, Tommy Pedrini
29:31 - Till We Meet Again - zircon, Jillian Aversa, AeroZ

<title>Episode 13: Round 3...FIGHT!</title>
<description>
For my contribution to Battle Month, I decided to focus on some of the more obscure stuff out there. There&#39;s music from portable games, RPG&#39;s and even some retro stuff. Check it out!
I do have a couple of things I want to let you know about; First, my headset is still messy from when Shodan broke it during Backloggers Anonymous: System Shock 2. I was able to soldier on, but after 4 attempts to record one section, I was forced to leave in some microphone popping. I&#39;m very sorry about this, but I do have a replacement already on it&#39;s way, so hopefully this will be the last time you have to deal with it.
Second, I tried to explain how the last 4 musical tracks work as best I could in the podcast, but if you need more, here&#39;s a video of a random encounter from Resonance of Fate &#47; End of Eternity. Notice how the music switches back and forth between the heavier, more complex stuff and the simpler, low quality sounding music (yes, the low fidelity sound is intentional. I own the game. I thought it was a nice touch.) Anyway, check it out!

This week&#39;s music
00:06 Radiant Historia: The Edge of Green -&#38;nbsp;Yoko Shimomura.
03:55&#38;nbsp;Code of Princess: Holy Princess (Solange&#38;rsquo;s theme) ACE.
07:33&#38;nbsp;Bravely&#38;nbsp;Default Flying Fairy: Bell of Battle - Revo.
11:07 Koudelka: Waterfall -&#38;nbsp;Hiroki Kikuta.
16:55 Etrian Odyssey III: Battlefield: The First Campaign - Yuzo Koshiro.
21:54 Etrian Odyssey III: Battlefield: Those That Slay and Fall - &#38;nbsp;Yuzo Koshiro.
26:38 Resonance of Fate &#47; End of Eternity: Warehouse District A (B begins at 29:40)&#38;nbsp;Motoi Sakuraba and Kohei Tanaka.
33:32 NieR: The Incomplete Stone (acapella. Full begins at 34:58) -&#38;nbsp;Keiichi Okabe,&#38;nbsp;Kakeru Ishihama,&#38;nbsp;Keigo Hoashi,&#38;nbsp;Takafumi Nishimura.

<title>Episode 7: Don&#39;t Press Start</title>
<description>
It&#39;s happened to all of us, well the music lovers anyway. We boot up a game we&#39;re excited to play, settle in for the opening few moments, and at some point the game asks us to do one of the easiest things in the world: Press Start.&#38;nbsp;And the music is so good, we just can&#39;t do it.
Plenty of games have done this to me over the hears, some new, and some old, so I figured I&#39;d just share those with you guys on this week&#39;s Digital Mystery Tour...
Dude wait, what?
Yes, I said Digital Mystery tour. We had to change our name. It&#39;s nothing serious, but I&#39;ll discuss it on the show, so if you haven&#39;t already, press play!
&#38;nbsp;
Track list:
00:05 The Last Story from The Last Story, Nobuo Uematsu
02:10 Call of Magic from The Elder Scrolls: Morrowind,&#38;nbsp;Jeremy Soule
04:04 Theme from The Legend of Zelda: Wind Waker (various artists)
06:41 Angel&#39;s Fear from Secret of Mana:&#38;nbsp;Hiroki Kikuta
08:13 Prayer from Castlevania: Symphony of the Night,&#38;nbsp;Michiru Yamane

Ok, I didn&#39;t exactly follow the typical SIA format, but if you&#39;re gonna kick off a podcast with Bad to the Bone, you better be the kind of guy that writes his own rules. This weeks feature? Music to blow up your fellow racers by, because any competition is so much better when things can explode.
Seriously Nascar, pay attention here. I&#39;d be fine with the endless series of left turns if someone shot somebody with a rocket every once in a while and your announcers were more like this guy:

Ok, well maybe not that last one so much...
Also, here&#39;s some bonus content for those of you sweet people that actually read&#38;nbsp;the show notes: Blizzard has a long history of referencing one of their earliest titles, The Lost Vikings, in their games, and Rock and Roll Racing was no exception. In this case, one of the&#38;nbsp;characters&#38;nbsp; Olaf, is actually an unlockable racer, and he&#39;s easily the best of the bunch:

Furthermore, when the game was ported to the Sega Genesis, the designers didn&#39;t have the luxury of Sony&#39;s amazing SNES sound chip to play with, so they compensated by offering the Genesis players an exclusive track: Radar Love by Golden Earring:

This week&#39;s music:
00:10 Bad to the Bone (George Thorogood) - Rock N&#39; Roll Racing: Tim and Geoff Follin
01:56 Highway Star (Deep Purple) -&#38;nbsp;Rock N&#39; Roll Racing: Tim and Geoff Follin
04:47 Born to be Wild&#38;nbsp;(Steppenwolf) -&#38;nbsp;Rock N&#39; Roll Racing: Tim and Geoff Follin
07:39 Paranoid (Black Sabbath)&#38;nbsp;-&#38;nbsp;Rock N&#39; Roll Racing: Tim and Geoff Follin
09:57 Peter Gunn (Henry Mancini) - Spy Hunter, arcade version (no composer found)
13:06 Race 1 - LED Storm, Amiga&#38;nbsp;version&#38;nbsp;(no composer found. Possibly Tim Follin)
14:53 Race 2 - LED Storm, Amiga version (no composer found. Possibly&#38;nbsp;Tim Follin)
18:42 New San - MegaRace:&#38;nbsp;St&#38;eacute;phane Picq

<title>Episode 1: Attract Mode</title>
<description>
Welcome to another excellent podcast from PixlBit! I guess once you&#39;ve been bitten by the podcasting bug you feel this need to create interesting and entertaining shows, and with that in mind, I decided to spearhead Sound in Action: PixlBit&#39;s gaming music podcast!
We plan to bring this show to you every Sunday, with a rotating cast of hosts. The show will usually be built around a theme, with around 5 or so excellent musical pieces from the world of video games. For this first episode, I chose games that I loved to have running in the background at my independent video game store, Gamefellas. Enjoy this first episode, and you can contact myself or Angelo, my co-editor for requests and theme ideas. I can be reached at julian@pixlbit.com and Angelo at angelo@pixlbit.com.
This week&#39;s music:
00:00 Super Metroid-Samus Story Music
05:53 Wild Arms-Into the Wilderness
08:45 Final Fantasy Tactics-Bland Logo&#47;Unit Introduction
14:06 Soul Edge-The Edge of Soul
19:07 Ico-Castle in the Mist
23:07 Rising Zan: Samurai Gunman-Johnny No More
