Diablo III should be entering the final stretch. It’s been rated in Korea, and there’s only a couple months left for the game to really qualify for that “early 2012” release window. With that being said, there have been some interesting new developments in the saga of Blizzard’s hotly anticipated action/RPG.
The game finally gets rated by the Games Rating Board.
They say that the third time’s the charm, and that definitely holds true for Blizzard. After submitting their highly-anticipated dungeon crawler Diablo III to the Korean ratings board two times and getting rejected, we can report that the third submission was a success. That’s right, you compulsive clickers out there—Diablo III has a rating in Korea.
A delay in Korea could mean a delay everywhere.
We’re getting closer and closer to that fabled “early 2012” release of Diablo III. In fact, it seems like the hotly-anticipated dungeon crawler from Blizzard may be getting here sooner, as the company has submitted the game to be rated in Korea. The company has sent three submissions to the ratings board, with the first two coming back rejected and the third in discussion. While you would be forgiven for assuming that the problem is due to violence or religious issues, the reality is something much tamer, and yet could have large repercussions. The controversial auction house being implemented in Diablo III is something of a stumbling block for the Korean ratings board, which sees it as edging too close to gambling.

For a game that seems like it's been in development longer than Duke Nukem Forever, Diablo III sure got a lot of love at this past weekend's BlizzCon.
