Nerds Without Pants Episode 58: Free to Play

You can listen for free, but if you want to throw 99 cents our way we'll take it...

Well hello, there! Unfortunately it’s a two man band again this time, as Patrick was out for work reasons. Angelo and Julian hold down the fort by talking for FAR TOO LONG about mobile games, free to play philosophy, and Christmas shopping.

Azure Striker Gunvolt Review

Full disclosure, there are no electricity puns within this game review.

I would call Azure Striker Gunvolt two things; one would be the perfect replacement for a lack of a new Mega Man X/Zero title, and the other being a very meaty 3DS eShop release with high production values. With easy to understand gameplay, a fantastic graphical style and a slew of abilities and optional gear to collect, Azure Striker Gunvolt is a great call back to the 16-bit era of action games and an all around great game despite some design flaws. It even comes with the free game as well!

E3 2013: The Future of Final Fantasy

There's a lot of Final Fantasy on the way, but is it the Final Fantasy people want?

Final Fantasy. Just saying the name conjures up all manner of conflicting thoughts these days. Square Enix is not the company it once was, and its flagship RPG series has encountered a lot of negativity and lukewarm receptions in recent years. Don’t count this legendary franchise out just yet though; there are plenty of interesting developments for the series coming from E3, including more than one mea culpa from the development side of the equation. With games coming down the pipeline from FF X to XV, I think it’s best that we tackle them in Roman numerical order, don’t you?

Pokemon Mystery Dungeon: Gates to Infinity Review

It's probably best to keep games with "Mystery Dungeon" in the title away from Nick.

Mystery Dungeon. Seeing those two words in succession are enough to make me cringe. For years now, Chunsoft has been developing this series of roguelikes across different licenses, with Pokemon Mystery Dungeon: Gates to Infinity marking the third in the respective subseries. No matter how they seem to spin this core concept, I simply can’t build an appreciation for it. While it tries to cater to a wider audience by removing the “hunger” facet and dialing down the difficulty, it’s still possible given its random nature to have the odds stacked so highly against you that there’s no chance for success.

Push Start to Continue Episode 2: VGA Trailer Trash

One second, they give out actual awards at the VGAs?!?

We may be a day late, but this episode of Push Start to Continue is certainly not lacking in the dollars and cents.  Join Mike and Jesse as they completely ignore the awards given at this year's 10th annual Spike TV Video Game Awards, and talk about the only thing that really matters: the trailers and game announcements.  Also discussed is the allure of the Demon's/Dark Souls series, the THQ Bundle, and much, much more.
