The Lost Quest of Star Fox

Before there was Star Fox 64, Fox and company went on a second quest to save Corneria... but chances are, you didn't get to play it.

Shigeru Miyamoto has become quite well known for his outstanding games and their absolutely unique designs. He has led countless projects and played a major role in the runaway success of Nintendo since the introduction of the NES. However, he's also the reason Star Fox 2, a fully completed game, has never seen the light of day.

Could the Man Behind Minecraft Make Psychonauts 2 a Reality?

Notch to Schafer: Let's make Psychonauts 2 happen.

Tim Schafer, founder of Double Fine studios, wants to make Psychonauts 2.  “I would love to do Psychonauts 2, I’ve actually pitched that to publishers several times and no-one has taken the bait so far,” said Schafer in an interview with Digital Spy.

Where is the Precision in Platformers?

It's alright when controls are tight.

I’ve gotten further than I ever had in Ratchet & Clank. I’m on Planet Oltanis and I made my way through the various light guards, sentry robots, and machine gun turrets. It hasn’t been easy, with Clank not available for this level. I lack a lot of the various platforming upgrades I’ve acquired through my playthrough. However, I’m here, and the shiny bright aura surrounding my prize is in my sights. All that remains are some floating platforms with slingshot orbs above them. I grapple onto the first one. No problem. The next one is easy to reach as well after waiting for it to be in line. I grapple onto the third and final orb. It pulls me in. I drop down. I land on the floating platform. Something’s wrong. I’m stuck in the falling animation.

Super Scribblenauts Hands On Preview

Scribblenauts is back... yay?

As many of you know, I had the pleasure of reviewing Scribblenauts shortly after I started PixlBit for Nintendo World Report. I gave the game a 7/10 there, and I felt that I was being generous. I rewarded the game mostly for its innovative concept, but the implementation of their design was clearly lacking. Super Scribblenauts is supposed to be the answer to everyone's issues with the original game, but after my hands-on time, aside from a new control scheme, Super Scribblenauts appears to be no better than the first.

"Game of the Year"?! Conclusion

How did 5th Cell react to the hype for the game?

I've dished out a lot of blame to gaming journalists, with all those review snippets on the first day, as well as the few articles I chose to connect here yesterday, but I'll be honest, it wasn't all Kotaku's, IGN's, or any particular gaming journalist's fault that prerelease hype for Scribblenauts grew out of hand. Take a look at most of the "famous" Post #217 from the NeoGAF forums, and the impressions of Scribblenauts it contains, though be warned, there is a bit of foul language:

"Game of the Year"?! Part Three

Where did things go wrong?

So what pushed members of the gaming media to become so enthusiastic with Scribblenauts coverage? What encouraged reviewers to ignore or flat out dismiss a terrible control scheme? What caused them to neglect to mention how basic most summonable things are?
