PixlTalk Episode 61: Gender in Gaming

Where gaming goes too far and where it doesn't go far enough.

Gender in Gaming has been the controversial hot button topic as of late, garnering attention from big name media outlets like Forbes and Maxim. However, despite the ample attention directed toward this issue, few discussions manage to address the real problems at hand. Instead we often opt for reactionary attacks that continue to drive a wedge between our community, silencing intelligent discussion.

Dead or Alive Paradise Review

The boobastic ladies of Dead or Alive are back once again to show off their endowments for your pleasure.

I should start this review off with something: I’ve never played a Dead or Alive game. That said, that doesn’t mean I wasn’t prepared for what was about to hit me over the head but I can’t say that I know characters backgrounds or plot or what have you… and Paradise is definitely not the title for filling in the gaps.

Released on the PSP, Dead or Alive Paradise blatantly screams everything it’s about within the opening sequence: bosoms, butts, babes, and beach… in that order. All you have to do is slap some J-pop music on the mp3 player of your mind and I’m sure you can imagine the gratuitous T&A shots that made the opening sequence.

flOw Review Rewind

Evanescent flOw gives an abstractly artistic outlook on aquatic life, that which is as lovely as it is repetitive.

I find myself at a loss for words when I try to think of an introduction for flOw. Oddly, for a game that is so simple, it’s one that dances outside traditional categorization. I suppose, and I write it with a quirky smile, the title is the game – description, category, and a unique sense of being.

God of War: Chains of Olympus Review Rewind

Sam gives us the lowdown (a lengthy one at that!) on Chains of Olympus for PixlBit's first Review Rewind.

I’d like to start off saying that I have been a fan of the God of War series for years. Back in 2005 (I say it like it was ages ago), I remember sitting down, watching Cheat on television and being tickled by the concept of a game that seemed to combine punching things in the face with Greek mythology. In 2007, sometime before God of War 2 hit markets, I remember sitting down (at a different television this time) to introduce my fellow Pixlbit-er Chessa to the game that finally forced me to learn where the buttons on the PS2 controller were, all while cussing up a merry storm as she stood by, slack-jawed, at the token violence, random optional sex, and angry bald Spartan grunting.
