Bionic Commando Rearmed 2 Review

The commando returns for the sequel to the remake of the classic NES platformer.

The second iteration of Capcom’s Bionic Commando reboot once again takes us to the brutally difficult world of old-school NES platformers. Gameplay improvements and an awesome soundtrack await returning players as they precariously swing the commando from level to level. Technical issues keep the game from feeling too polished as a whole, but fans of the original may be pleasantly surprised as they play through the game’s many environments.

Alien Breed 2: Assault Review

Team 17 continues to dazzle us with mediocrity in their latest remake.

Franchise necromancer, Team 17, is back and they want you to play their latest reiteration of a game they already made in the '90s. Alien Breed 2: Assault is a semi-fixed camera shooter that doesn’t try to do anything fancy and stays painfully true to the original Amiga classic. Like most in Team 17’s library, it’s a value priced game with equally low production that tries to do exactly what the game before it did with just a couple new features added on, primarily, Survival Mode.

Worms Reloaded Review

If you're thinking this is the iteration that reinvents the gameplay of Worms 2... think again.

For twelve years now, Team 17 has released countless iterations or the Worms franchise. Being a huge fan of Worms: Armageddon back in 1999, I was curious to see what Worms had done with over a decade of changes and countless iterations of the series. Upon playing the game, it was pretty disappointing to see that not only has the game changed very little in its long history of releases, but during gameplay I found the physics and weaponry to be slightly inferior to its classic '90s counterpart.

Tough Non-Slip Dance Platform Review

The latest and greatest in dance pads is "Tough" indeed.

It’s been a while since I’ve pulled out the old Konami dance pad and played some DDR on the original Xbox. The long sessions and practice I put into the game in college got me pretty good at the game, and before long I was an expert DDR player. Performing the songs at that level really put a beating on the pre-packaged pad, and it slowly started to wear and lose accuracy as time went on. Hyperkin recently released a more durable version of the classic peripheral, which they have named the Tough Pad, and it certainly lives up to the name.

Mortal Kombat Preview

Mortal Kombat is done messing around with its return to 2d gameplay.

After sitting in a line without moving for nearly an hour, I was about rip out some spines after getting inside the Mortal Kombat demo. Luckily, the game did all of that for me. The developer demoing the game showed us the brutal return to the franchise's roots, and its never looked better. The moves now feature a see through effect for when characters hit their opponents particularity hard. Showing bones breaking and muscles tearing through the skin, it really makes for some awesome presentation.
