Prototype 2 Initial Impressions
Here at NYCC 2011 I was able to take some time to play the Prototype 2 demo, not having played the original it is hard for me to say what has changed, so my impressions are solely related to what I played in the demo.

I am more interested in the 'Rock of Ages' than I am in the age of rocks.
I am always happy when an XBLA game comes out that is more than just a skinned engine or a shooter with no story. Rock of Ages, created by ACE Team, is a memorable game for the unique way in which it recounts various events and persons in history. While it is an enjoyable game, it will quickly wear thin with its incredibly unbalanced game engine.
"Every time another review comes out, I let out a deep breath."
Usually when someone makes a game where you play a deity or similar spiritual being you are truly the ruler of that world. You can rain down miracles or bring the plagues, and shape reality to your whim. Often the only true obstacle is protecting your worshippers from beings of similar power or trying to properly multitask a growing population of the faithful.
Worship the god out of the machine
Twelve years ago, Ion Storm created the original Deus Ex, combining role-playing elements into a first-person shooter, something that, while done before, had never had such polish. The game won multiple awards and still regarded as one of the greatest PC games of all time. Stepping into the role of a UN agent in a cyberpunk, dystopian future, you unraveled a massive conspiracy threatening the entire world. In 2003, a sequel, Deus Ex: Invisible War was released and while generally well-received, it failed to deliver the quality and poise of its namesake and has become a sore spot for fans. Today, 11 years later, Square Enix has tried to revitalize the franchise and bring in a new generation of gamers while catering to the old guard with Deus Ex: Human Revolution - and boy did they succeed. Deus Ex: Human Revolution has managed to deliver one of the most enjoyable games I have played in years.
So many jokes you could make with that title.
Take everything that makes a JRPG what it is, compress it down to thirty second slices and you’ll find yourself with Half-Minute Hero from Marvelous Entertainment. A fun and spastic gameplay experience. OK, I’m done, go play it.
"He who fights with monsters might take care lest he therby become a monster. And if you gaze for long into the abyss, the abyss gazes into you." - Nietzsche
The Witcher 2: Assassin of Kings is arguably the best role playing game to have come out this year and can easily be ranked as one of the top Western RPGs in the last decade. It is that rare game where you can tell the team over at CD Projekt Red truly loved the source material and put in all the effort they could to convey the story of Geralt of Rivia, as faithfully as possible, to anyone who plays the game.
Is it to much to ask that they play "Touch" just once?
I was more than a little excited to get my hands on Transformers: Dark of the Moon. Most of that came from a deep curiosity to see how High Moon Studios tried to improve upon last year’s Transformers: War for Cybertron, a game that I felt had the needed components to make a really solid game but just failed in the execution to deliver a complete experience.
The staff lends their best guesses for what the upcoming show has to offer excited gamers.
E3 2011 appears to have crept up on us once again. Just as we did last year, the staff has come together to provide predictions for the coming show. This year, unlike last year, most of the show is a huge question mark.
A game with a unique mechanic that could be great with some adjustments.
I really wanted to like Brink. A sci-fi game set in a dystopian future with guns, parkour-like movement and over-the-top characters? Where do I sign?! But sadly, it seems that Splash Damage was unable to make their game live up to the hype. Twice.
