Fight Night Champion Review

Lace up your gloves, the latest round of Fight Night throws a solid hook.

I have been an avid fan of the Fight Night series since it was released back on the Xbox seven years ago. Fight Night Champion is the latest in the long running series and it without question lived up to my expectations, acting as a successful follow up to Fight Night Round 4.

Gears of War 3 Hands On Preview

After some time with the beta: so far, so good.

While Gears of War has been an important series for Microsoft and the Xbox 360, there have been some ongoing issues with the series that have held it back; particularly, the slow gameplay and a general lack of weapons. This time around, Gears of War 3 seems to be getting it all correct. There is a new arsenal of weapons, five-vs-five multiplayer modes, and a campaign featuring up to four-player co-op action. After a good amount of time with the beta, Gears of War 3 is one of my most anticipated Xbox 360 titles of 2011.

FIFA 11 Review

A kick in the wrong direction.

As sports games become more complex, the harder they become to make on the Wii. Last year's FIFA had a number of problems in terms of both control and gameplay. It was a very generic game that didn't really have any unique or compelling controls like many Wii games possess.

NCAA Football 11 Review

NCAA Football is back and better than ever.

After a number of iterations, NCAA Football finally feels like it has distinguished itself from the Madden series. The gameplay and the look are totally different, which are what really make it feel like something unique. Though not as big, there are a number of little touches that also separate the two games. With two different styles, buying NCAA or Madden won’t just come down to which league of football you like better.

BackBreaker Review

Can Madden, the king of football games, be dethroned?

BackBreaker is a one-of-a-kind experience when it comes to football games, offering both first and third person views in an effort to give players the point-of-view of the player from the field. While this is a great idea for a football game, BackBreaker fails to execute it properly.

NBA Jam Hands On Preview

NBA Jam slams its way back into action on the Nintendo Wii.

NBA Jam on the SNES was one of my favorite sports games growing up, and I still play it to this day. I have been waiting for an NBA Jam that would compare to the perfection of this classic game. Over the years NBA Jam games have been a failure and have not been nearly as good as the original titles. EA who took over Midway's franchise hopes to achieve this goal with their release on the Nintendo Wii. The Wii brings a whole new look to NBA Jam's gameplay in a way that opens up my hopes for a comeback.

Crackdown 2 Hands On Preview

The sequel is a massive improvement on the already excellent original title.

Crackdown 2 has been highly anticipated among many Crackdown fans. It seems that it's finally here and ready to play. My first impression while watching videos and looking at screen shots is that the game should live up to the quality of the original Crackdown. After playing the game, I can happily say that it has both lived up to its potential and surpassed the quality of its proceeder.
