This game is so much fun. Let's back it up though so you understand my experiences with MMOs.
Back in the days of 2001 I attempted to play Runescape, a free to play MMO... unfortunately my computer and internet connection was horrible so I didn't get a chance to even try the game in any sort of working form. 

I avoided WOW for years in fear of becoming addicted. When I finally took a risk and bought WOW, I had no fun beyond the character creation screen. I was bored and to be honest wasn't a big fan of the world, it's lore, nor ints inhabitants.

THEN! I played Lord of the Rings Online on my brother's account. Surely the Tolkien world would draw me in, but in reality I was just as bored. While being a fan of the lore, I was not a fan of the game's interface, controls, or anything visually. I thought it was an underwhelming experience only the most hardcore could enjoy.

Somewhere in the mix FFXI was released, and I thought the world was gigantic but empty. The world itself was made up of extremely ugly graphics, which made it tough for me to indulge in the fantasy world. I played it for a full day at a friend's and again was left very bored.

This disappointed me as a huge FF fan, so you can imagine how negative I was seeing that FFXIV was another online adventure. Especially since the original release looked terrible to me. Visuals looked dated, animations looked a little wonky, then I read tons of stories of how bad it was.

It was so bad in fact that Square-Enix apologized for it; something I can't believe they didn't do after releasing the ever so boring FFXIII (Lightning's story can just stop and hide in a corner in my opinion.). Following the apology came the promise of a re-creation to make the game better. I was skeptical, especially since no MMO had sparked my interest as of yet.

Then the trailer for A Realm Reborn was released, showcasing a jawdropping beautiful world that looked miles ahead of the original release. I watched videos of the gameplay and character creation, and I was sold to at least try this reboot. Yesterday I bought it early, installed it, booted up the beautiful FF theme song as I created Lor Lionheart, my tiny little conjurer with a bond to the earth and a will greater than life (or so I say). I was then introduced to a world that understands how to guide a player through hoops without holding a hand. A world that is visually breathtaking, making you want to do just one more task before going to bed... and you get where I'm going. For the first time ever I am HOOKED to an MMO. I love the music, the nods to old FF games, and the world really captures the look and feel of traditional Final Fantasy titles (1 through 5, and 9, in particular).

This game is so good! I can't really compare it to other games as I never enjoyed others, but this FInal Fantasy world is one I'm loving so far, and it's scary as I need to make sure I don't get totally addicted to this game. But damn, it's great. If anyone wants to join up and play feel free.
