Luke's 2009 Game of the Year Awards

Luke gives us his thoughts on the best titles that were released in 2009 on all platforms.

System Ranks of 2009

1. Wii

In 2009 Wii had a great year due to how diverse the library has grown. Nintendo released a few notable titles this year, however third party publishers released a lot of great exclusive titles. While quite a few of those titles haven't received commercial success, they are great titles that gamers shouldn't miss. In order to supplement the great retail titles there were a lot of great titles that were released on the Virtual Console and WiiWare.

2. DS

In 2009 the DS still remains a monster on the portable front. With the release of the DSi and DSiWare service, the console is still here to stay for at least a few more years. There are a lot of great titles that were released by Nintendo and third party publishers that gamers shouldn't miss out on.

3. PlayStation 3

In 2009, the PS3 had a great balance of great titles released by Sony and third party publishers. Since many of the titles were also released on other platforms, Sony's focus on enhancing their first party titles was a great decision since it makes the library stand out more when compared to the Xbox 360's library. There were also a lot of great games that were released on PSN.

4. PSP

While it seems like the PSP is dying off on the software front, there are still a couple of great titles that were released this year and not found on other consoles. The only big disappointment with the platform was the lack of impact made by the PSPgo.

5. Xbox 360

While the Xbox 360 had solid releases, the big issue was that most of those titles are available on other platforms. Unless you're a big Halo fan, the first party support on the Xbox 360 this year was nearly non-existent. The only saving grace for the system were the numerous great releases on Xbox Live Arcade.
