Shadowrun Game Coming to a Browser Near You

Cliffhanger promising a more authentic cyberpunk experience than what was previously delivered.

Shadowrun, the pencil and paper role playing game that seamlessly blends classic fantasy and Blade Runner-esque cyberpunk has seen three different video game adaptations in its time.  The original games for the SNES and Genesis are considered classics by many gamers while the most recent effort on the 360 and PC left a bad taste in gamer’s mouths.  Cliffhanger hopes to assuage these recent bad memories by throwing their hat into the ring—announcing Shadorun Online.

Today’s release of their first Shadowrun Online newsletter gave some small details on what to expect.  Shadowrun Online will be a browser based game with a 3rd person perspective camera in a three dimensional setting, much like the original Shadowrun games except, you know, without the 3D.

Fans will be happy to know that Cliffhanger is working closely with Shadowrun Alumni in order to ensure that the game stays true to the spirit of the source material.  The game itself will contain two main elements: Legwork and mission prep and the missions themselves.

It’s expected that further details will be announced in future issues of the newsletter, but fans can ask all the questions they want at the Shadowrun Online Forum in the meantime.
