Tecmo Koei to Acquire Atelier Developer

Koei Tecmo Holdings adds to its stable of video game subsidiaries.

The company that brings us Dynasty Warriors on the regular will be acquiring Gust, developer and publisher of the Atelier series, as one of its subsidiaries in the coming days.

Koei Tecmo Holdings made the announcement today that they will be acquiring all 495 shares of Gust stock from the sole shareholder, Keiken Holdings, which means that the company will be a wholly owned subsidiary of Tecmo Koei.

The appropriate papers were signed off on by the appropriate parties today for a transfer that will occur sometime later this month.  The purchase price for the stock comes to 22 million yen (approximately $283,289).

With this acquisition Koei Tecmo Holdings noted that Gust has produced a popular IP in the form of the Atelier series and hope to raise the value of that IP by diversifying the different market types it could be applied to.
