A Witch's Tale Now Available for DS

North American gamers can enjoy the Halloween-themed RPG now.

Today NIS announced that A Witch’s Tale has finally been shipped to retailers across North America.

A Witch’s Tale is a Halloween-themed RPG that was produced through the collaborative efforts of HitMaker and Nippon Ichi Software. The tale follows a young girl named Liddell, a witch-in-training, who accidentally unlocks a seal which had contained an evil witch who terrorized the land one thousand years earlier. As a result the witch has once again been released upon the world with only Liddell left to banish her once again. Along the way she will meet up with famous fairy tale characters such as the Mad Hatter, the Cheshire Cat, Hansel, Gretel, and others.

A Witch’s Tale will take full advantage of the DS touch screen by implementing a drawing based combat system. Players will attack enemies and cast spells with “drag-and-drop” skills, and cast special spells by drawing magic runes. Not only will combat be solely touch screen based, but escaping and using items will utilize the touch screen as well.

A Witch’s Tale is rated E10+ by the ESRB and is available now at US retail outlets with an MSRP of $29.99. Be sure to check out the trailer for A Witch's Tale below!

This game seems right up my alley. I haven't played it yet, but I can see myself getting lost for hours in this combination of gameplay and setting.

Initially developed by Bandai Namco, it was later scrapped completely and development was shifted back to Retro Studios to start the project over. In the end, Retro has delivered a solid new entry in the series, but one that doesn’t totally capture what originally made the series so compelling.
