Starbreeze Working On Free-To-Play Title

Entitled Cold Mercury, little is known about this new title.

Starbreeze Studios, the developers behind the first Darkness game, Chronicles of Riddick and the recent Syndicate reboot, is going out of their comfort zone and developing a new free-to-play title called Cold Mercury. No details have been revealed yet but CEO Mikael Nermark reassures fans that the studio will still make triple A titles.

"Starbreeze will not leave the triple-A segment," he said. "We are discussing with several leading game publisher on publisher-financed games, but we will broaden our product portfolio of games in the new business models and segments that have arisen in the games industry."

Starbreeze Studios previously announced a PSN title, and a game currently dubbed P13 that involves Swedish director Josef Fares. It is unknown if these two projects are linked or the same title.

Starbreeze recently laid off 25 staffers before the launch of the Syndicate reboot, which received average reviews and a Metacritic score of 72-74 on the PC, Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3.
