Mists of Pandaria Has a Release Date

Get your "kung fu panda" on when the game drops in September.

Considering that Blizzard is a company known for releasing games at an almost glacial pace when compared to most developers, having two products in the same year from them is almost a news story on its own. Now that Diablo III has come out and shattered all manner of PC sales records it’s time to look forward to the next big thing from Blizzard. Of course, that means World of WarCraft, and that means the Mists of Pandaria expansion.

It was announced today that Blizzard will launch Mists of Pandaria on September 25, which is a little earlier in the year than when the company usually rolls out expansions. The standard edition will be available on disc and digital download for 39.99, and players can shell out 59.99 for the digital deluxe version. This package includes An Imperial Quillen flying mount and a Lucky Quillen Cub pet. StarCraft II players will be able to use an Infested Orc and Night Elf Templar portrait on Battle.Net, and Diablo III players gain a sigil and banner with Pandaren designs.

Blizzard is known for putting a lot of TLC into their collector’s editions, and Mists of Pandaria is no different. For 79.99 you not only get all of the digital goodies listed above, but a behind-the-scenes DVD, a CD soundtrack, and a mousepad emblazoned with the image of Chen Stormstout, the Pandaren brewmaster.

Mists of Pandaria adds an entirely new continent to Azeroth, the Asian-themed titular area. Players can create all new Pandaren characters on either the Alliance or the Horde, and a new monk class is added. Try your hand at making various brews and ales with the new brewmaster profession, and take some time out from the grind to level 90 by battling your pets in a Pokemon-style arena setting.
