RPG Maker Coming To DS In Japan

Enterbrain's long-running series is going portable for the first time since 2003.

Enterbrain announced that the latest entry in the RPG Maker series is hitting the DS on January 28 in Japan, according to 1UP.

Called RPG Tsukuru DS, the game allows you to make your very own Japanese role-playing game using more than 800 character parts, 1500 map parts, and 150 pieces of music. You use touch screen controls to do the creation of your game, which is an improvement over previous titles.

Players will also be able to use the DS wireless connection to share their games with their friends, although there aren't many specific details right now.

The series has been around for over 20 years, with the last North American release being for the PC in 2008, the last North American console release on the PlayStation 2 in 2005. The series has never come to handhelds outside of Japan.
