September 2009 NPD Top 20 Shows Beatles Domination, Wii Fit Biding Its Time

The recently released top 20 best-selling titles of September 2009 show off Nintendo's systems, the Xbox 360, and more.

With the top 10 best-selling games of September 2009 released yesterday, the NPD Group released the top 20 list, which includes Scribblenauts, Batman: Arkham Asylum, Kingdom Hearts: 358/2 Days, and more.

Batman: Arkham Asylum charted for PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 in the eighth spot and 11th spot respectively. Combined, the game sold just a little under 500,000 units last month.

The DS, which only had one game in the top 10, had three in second half of the list: Kingdom Hearts: 358/2 Days (12th), Scribblenauts (13th), and Professor Layton and the Diabolical Box (18th), the latter of which charted last month at 16th.

EA was a big winner last month as they were responsible for a quarter of the top 20. NHL 10 (360), and Need for Speed: Shift (360/PS3) charted in the second half, each raking in somewhere between 140,000 and 190,000 units. EA also was invested in The Beatles: Rock Band, which featured the 360 and Wii SKUs in the top 10, and the PS3 version rounding out the top 20.

Activision can't be happy with Guitar Hero 5's representation, as only the 360 version charted at ninth. However, Marvel: Ultimate Alliance 2 came in at seventh (360) and 17th (PS3).

Lastly, Nintendo's high-selling Wii Fit came in at 19th with over 130,000 units sold. Wii Fit Plus launched the day after September's reporting period and will most likely return the Nintendo series to the top 10.
