Transmission Games Closes its Doors

Publishing dues and contract issues are the culprit.

Transmission Games was an Australian game development company founded back in 1996 by Craig Laughten, Andrew Niere, and Ian Cunliffe under the name IR Gurus Pty Ltd.

They had developed over a dozen titles, and in February of 2008, they changed their name to Transmission Games. Under this new name, they relased two games: Ashes Cricket 2009 and Heroes Over Europe.

Trouble began earlier this year with Publisher Red Mile over milestone payments for their latest title, Heroes Over Europe. Ubisoft eventually stepped in to take over publishing for the game, however there were a list of many other problems. This included a contract issue regarding the game Red Tails; a movie game that wound up being thrown away which was originally intended to be published by Lucas Arts.

According to sources, this terminated title dealt the final blow to Transmissions games, and although they fired 30 of their employees, they simply could not make ends meet financially.

Thus today, Australian news sources are officially reporting that Transmission Games has closed their doors, although the press is still waiting for an official statement from the company itself.
