Marvelous Changes Strategy for Western Markets

Due to weaker overall sales, Marvelous will only license titles to Western Publishers in overseas markets.

After weaker than expected sales and uncertain market conditions, Marvelous Entertainment has modified their plans to distribute their titles in western markets. Going forward, Marvelous Entertainment will only license their games to other publishers overseas.

Marvelous Entertainment's original strategy for western markets was to establish a worldwide presence by creating Marvelous Entertainment USA in North America. In Europe, Marvelous had a joint venture with a European company in order to create Rising Star Games.

Marvelous also announced that they are selling their stake in Rising Star Games to a Japanese company called Interglow.

While I do enjoy games from Marvelous or developers that are associated with Marvelous, I think some of their business practices are questionable.

If they are now only strictly licensing titles from now on, they should keep their commitments with publishers that they license the titles and not transfer them to another publisher mid project, or else some publishers will potentially want to stop working with them (such as Muramasa and Arc Rise Fantasia being transfered from XSEED to Ignition).
