New Dragon Quest Wars Details Released

Square releases a sneak peek of the upcoming DSiWare's monster list.

Dragon Quest Wars is an upcoming DSiWare title from Square. Players must choose a team consisting of up to four monsters at one time to take into battle with them. Every battle is different, so players must carefully select each monster according to their strengths in order to be most effective in a particular match. A battle is won when players either defeat all of their enemies or set foot in enemy territory.

Recently, Square released new information regarding the six monsters players will be able to utilize throughout the game.

1). Slime- A well-rounded monster who can deal one point of physical damage as well as one point of magical damage using his ability, Frizz.

2). Golem- A powerful monster who can deal two points of physical damage with his Body Slam attack. Through his special attack Selflessness, he can sacrifice himself for another monster by moving to their square and enduring the blow.

3). Hammerhood- A monster with the ability to deal physical damage across multiple squares; three to be exact. He also has the ability to counter an attack, as well as regain one health point before the next round through Meditation.

4). Healslime- A monster who is fairly useless for battle but functions better as a party supporter. His heal ability restores one health point to himself or an adjacent monster, and his Kabuff spell reduces the damage of physical attacks for himself or another adjacent party member.

5). Chimaera- A monster whose strength lies in his defense, as he can block physical and magical attacks. Chimaera can also deal damage to two squares with the ability, Sizz.

6). Dracky- This monster has the widest range of movement compared to the other five, which makes him very useful for reaching the enemy line. His spell, Crack, allows him to attack diagonally, and his physical attack, Shove, does one point of physical damage while also knocking the enemy back one square.

Dragon Quest Wars is expected to release sometime next week for 500 points on DSiWare.
