I'm leaning more towards the "renewing their trademark" aspect of this news.
However, there is the small part of me that is hoping for a surprise reveal at E3.
A New Eternal Darkness in the Works?
Are gamers finally getting the sequel they were promised nearly eight years ago?
Every Eternal Darkness fan will undoubtedly remember the ending of the game, in which Silicon Knights teased the potential for a sequel that was to be titled Eternal Darkness: Sanity's Redemption.
Instead of a sequel, Silicon Knights turned their attention to many other projects, including the Metal Gear Solid one remake, and their last project, Too Human. Even though there was rumor for a while that Silicon Knights was in the process of developing an unnamed psychological thriller, no mention of an Eternal Darkness sequel was ever officially announced.
However, Nintendo of America recently issued a new trademark filing for Eternal Darkness, after cancelling the original in December.
At this time it is unclear as to what this new trademark filing is indicative of, whether it is for a sequel to the original, or Nintendo simply renewing the trademark.
