3DS to Feature Game Installations?

Nikkei claims the system will feature the ability.

The latest edition of the Nikkei newspaper claims that the 3DS will feature an ability that has not yet been revealed by Nintendo; the ability to install software.

The software install feature will allow players to install multiple cartridge based games onto the 3DS internal memory. With this feature players will be able to switch between games in the system menu, without the need to swap game cartridges.

According to the Nikkei, this feature was created to allow players to have access to multiple games outside the home without the burden of having to carry multiple cartridges.

Unfortunately, no other specifics were revealed about the new feature and Nintendo has still not verified the claim.

Oh wow, the 3DS just gets even more amazing every day. This is a very nice feature however, since Nintendo has been fighting piracy I have a feeling that there will be some kind of small caveat to curb piracy or exploitation of this feature.

This doesn't sound like something Nintendo would do. I'm skeptical unless it becomes official.

I know it doesn't sound like something that Nintendo would do, and recently Nintendo has been doing things that didn't seem like Nintendo would do.

However, the Nikkei has been actually spot on a couple of times before regarding the 3DS. In March, Nikkei revealed that the 3DS will have a analog stick (which is true), includes a motion sensor (true), screen to be less than 4 inches (true 2x), improved wireless and battery (battery improvement is unknown, but wireless improvement looks like its true). So while Nikkei isn't a videogame source in Japan, they did reveal a lot regarding the 3DS and a majority of them are true.

Anyways, since Nintendo has been burned badly by piracy I have a feeling this feature while being convenient, it will have a big caveat. Like requiring some kind of online activation for games being stored on the system's internal memory or having an expiration date.
