November NPD Sales Results Revealed

Nintendo systems dominate the hardware sales while Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 dominates the software sales.

With the start of the holiday shopping season, it's unsurprising that video game sales in November increased tremendously when compared to October.

On the hardware side, Nintendo was the clear winner as both the Wii and DS sold more than a million units last month. The Xbox 360 edged out the PlayStation 3 by a mere 100,000 difference. The PSP and PS2 remain the two lowest selling systems on the market.

Below are the official NPD console sales figures for November:

Nintendo DS: 1.70M
Wii: 1.26M
Xbox 360: 819.5K
PlayStation 3: 710.4K
PSP: 293.9K
PlayStation 2: 203.1K

Software sales were also impressive. Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 is the clear winner with six million copies sold across the Xbox 360 and PS3. New Super Mario Bros Wii, Assassin's Creed 2, and Left 4 Dead 2 also had strong sales. Nintendo is clearly the dominant publisher, having four different titles in the top ten last month.
