Death Is Fun - I'm A Badass, and you're a Goodass....

This is going to be a relatively quick blog, as I'm still high on the afterglow of the feats I'm about to detail.

Last night I fought two major bosses in Dark Souls - well, 3 if you count the Bell gargoyles as two bosses.  After making my way through Darkroot basin and garden, I came to the Undead Church, the location of the first bell you need to ring.  Atop the church are two massive gargoyles that attack you.  And attack they did -  only to taste the glowing tips of my heavy soul arrows.  I'm not sure why people have bitched and complained about these bosses being difficult....thus far, the Bell Gargoyles are the easiest boss I've had to deal with other than the Asylum Demon.  Anyway, 12 heavy soul arrows, a few regular soul arrows, and 4 estus sips later, I'm ringing the first bell.  The best part - I ddin't die ONCEl.  that's right  - I kicked this bosses ASS, first try, no deaths.  I feel a bit accomplished on that, for sure.

After doing some rooting around and finding better armor, reinforcing it, and grinding stats so I could wield the Drake Sword, I found the Moonlight Butterfly.  This battle was a pain in the ass, as the butterfly is fairly quick, and releases magic attacks that eat up half the health bar.  Luckily I had my soul arrows locked, stocked, and cocked.  I peppered this insect bastard until it'd go catatonic on the side of the ledge, during which time I'd swing away with my Drake Sword.  No muss, no fuss, that butterfly was DUST.

Oh yeah - I didn't die even ONCE during this encounter, either.  Given the sheer volume of people who gave up on the game before ringing the first bell, I feel like I'm doimg pretty good with Dark Souls.  Paying attention to the distribution of stat points, having proper armor, and no small amount of skill is paying off in loads.  After my encounter with the butterfly I called it a night...I know when to fold'em.

BTW....Dark Souls reminds me quite a lot of the world Ash gets sent back to in Army Of Darkness. And anything having to do with Army of Darkness is excellent, in my book.

Tonight, the Capra Demon tastes the edge of my blade and the sting of the Soul Arrow.
