Going back to the Wasteland

Good evening Pixlbit. This week I recently picked up Fallout 3: Game of the Year Edition and Fallout New Vegas: Ultimate Edition. For some reason I felt like playing the Fallout games again. I owned the both of the games before, but traded them in a while back. Now I'm starting to get back into them.

I started off with Fallout New Vegas because I like it more. I know a lot of people say Fallout 3 was better, but I like New Vegas more because the fact that it's Vegas. I love going to Vegas and its just something that makes the game more enjoyable. Also the fact that you can aim down the sight. I played Fallout 3 for a little back then and didn't really get into it, but now I've been doing a lot more in the game.

I recently went to Target to get some groceries and check out the sales at the electronics section. I do my usual trip to the clearance section and didn't see anything to my interest. So I went to the video game section and made my way to the 3DS/DS isle and I saw that Pokemon White Version 2 for $24. I knew I couldn't pass that up. The crazy thing is, the game rang up as $10 and I questioned it to myself but I didn't want to bring it up to the employee. He was even confused why it rung up as that price even though it had a $24 clearance sticker on it. I've heard it was a good game so hopefully for $10 this was a steal.

Well that's my little post of the week. I hope you all have a great weekend. Happy gaming!

BEYOND!

I like New VEgas too.  The developer, Obsidian, is one of my favorite developers of all time.  They did KOTOR2, as well as the new South Park game.

I completely forgot that Obsidian made South Park as well. I would love to play KOTOR2 if only I had a PC.

Fallout 3 may not be as bug ridden as New Vegas, but there are many things that New Vegas did significantly better than Fallout 3.  There is a dark sense of humour that is present in New Vegas that is not there in Fallout 3.  Obsidian also made the decisions that you make in the game difficult.  Difficult in the sense that you are not quite sure which is good and which is bad.  No matter how much good I did throughout the game, there was plenty of bad that came about because of the so called "good" choices...

I just think that New Vegas is the superior game.

I see what you mean. Fallout New Vegas was my first Fallout game. Technically Fallout 3 was, but I didn't sink that many hours into it. I'm trying to play more of Fallout 3 right now so I can get through that and then head back to New Vegas. In both of these games I put the difficulty to very easy/novice because I'm still getting used to playing these games.

I have been to every nick and cranny in Fallout 3 but New Vegas I didnt finish vut I do agree with you on New Vegas being better.

I'm still trying to figure out how to get to some places. The tunnels tend to get a little confusing for me and it took me a while to just find Hamilton's Hideaway. New Vegas just has some sort of click to me. Not sure if its because of the mechanics or the fact that it has a post apocalyptic look to the Vegas strip/atmosphere.

I think New Vegas was a far better game than Fallout 3. Its game mechanics are far more refined and the New Vegas world was more interesting. Fallout 3 had better set-pieces and perhaps a somewhat more coherent story, although New Vegas had more interesting characters and scenarios to interact with, and it's not like either game was Shakespeare anyway. The only last-gen games I'd rank higher than New Vegas and Fallout 3 were Valkyria Chronicles and Ni no Kuni.

I see your point. Story wise I would think Fallout 3, but everything else backs up with New Vegas. One main strong point for me was the fact that you can aim down the sights. Not saying the aiming in Fallout 3 was bad, but since I play a lot of shooters it kind of gives me a sense of ease to know where I'm aiming and what I'll be hitting rather than an icon aiming at the generic area I might hit. I haven't played Valkyria Chronicles and I have yet to finish Ni No Kuni. I actually got stuck at a part and haven't gotten back to it since.
