Final Fantasy XIII, XIII-2, Lightning Returns and Ni No Kuni

Hey Pixlbit. I just wanted to post a quick question about Final Fantasy. So in my last post I said I returned FFXIII-2 and exchanged it for Ni No Kuni. Now I'm thinking of going back to FF haha. I found a pre owned copy of FFXIII Lightning Returns yesterday and I'm really enjoying it. I think it's because the game mechanics are different from the previous FF games. I'm thinking of going back to playing XIII and XIII-2, but I'm still not sure whether to give up Ni No Kuni for that.

I've read that XIII isn't that great and XIII-2 was the better one. Posts on different threads I've read said that XIII-2 could've been a stand alone title. But I'm not sure if it's worth going back to because I've only played a little of both games. As I posted on my last entry, Ni No Kuni is $5 on the PSN store until Friday, but I didn't get it because of the gb space it would take. Since it's at a great sale price and has been before, I'm wondering if it'll be free for PS+ one day.

So what are your opinions? Should I return Ni No Kuni for FFXIII-2 and hope to see Ni No Kuni free for plus one day? Or just stick with my physical copy of Ni No Kuni and just jump straight into Lightning Returns. I know there will be spoilers in the game, but I know I can just save money and read up on the stories of XIII and XIII-2. Even though i'll miss out on the experience of playing them.

Let me know on your thoughts and opinions and to those who have played the games, let me know if it's worth actually playing through the XIII series or just save myself the trouble and read up on them and jump into Lightning Returns. Much appreciated

BEYOND!

I wouldn't do it but then I hated XIII with a passion. It's the only Final Fantasy game I ever regretted buying. I've tried to play it twice and quit in disgust both times.

I tried the demo for XIII-2 and thought it was pretty much "second verse, same as the first" imo and playing th Lightning Returns demo it all seemed so pointless without the back story.

I would take Ni No Kuni back for something else and pick it up on PSN for $5 . Even if it does go on the "free" list at least you'll own it permanently if you pay the fiver so there's that.

If hard drive space is an issue upgrade to a Terabyte HD and you'll have tons of space

Appreciate your input mothman. I really thought of buying it on PSN, but I'd have to buy a $20 PSN card and I feel as thought the rest of the $15 would just be a waste because there's nothing I want to buy and I have this thing with having left over money in my digital wallets. I just see it as money being wasted. But that's just me being weird haha. So it would be best to skip out on FF?

I know there are some who liked the games but many who didn't. Just my opinion. Your mileage may vary

Do you only buy PSN cards or do you have debit card? I have been buying games with my actual card and they only charge me the price of the item now. They dont charge the wallet thing anymore. Atleast on the phone app they dont.

I only buy the PSN cards. I don't like to link my debit/credit card info to my systems just in case something were to happen to them.

If I were to get a $20 PSN card, I'd probably get Ni No Kuni and use the rest on Tales of Graces f because I've been meaning to get into the Tales series and it's one of the games on sale, but not sure if i'll like it or not.

13-2 is a bit like Ni No Kuni or Pokemon. You have two main characters, but you can capture enemies you fight and add them to your party and level them up. The game story revolves around new character Noel and Serah and original cast only make cameos. I think the main difference between 13-2 and Lightning Returns is that you have more control over all of your actions/strategies because you are only controlling one character and not relying on a party.

Personally, I really enjoyed the 13 series, more so than FF10. I haven't played Lightning Returns yet but I thought the demo was fabulous! Fashion Fantasy! LOL! Cool

Haha I see your point. I guess it's just a personal preference decision.
