So I just saw on Facebook that teh first Rebuild of Evangelion film is going to be shown on Toonami tonight! And that's awesome! Yeah, they're probably using teh English dub, but it's actually pretty good. So....go watch it. If you don't know what Evangelion is, this is a good introduction. It's my favorite thing-y out there, tied with teh works of Kinoko Nasu and a couple others, for what it's worth.

I've only watched the first movie (though I own the second, I'm kind of saving it for later!). I liked it, but I liked those first six or so episodes better in the TV series despite the lower quality animation. It downplays the story and seems to focus on the action a bit too much. Though I do hear the second one is much, much better.

Hopefully Toonami might get a new wave of fans for the series.

I do agree, teh story and character aspects get simplified and downplayed a lot in 1.11, and teh cut scenes range from trivial (Shinji accidentally listening in on a couple getting intimate in all-night movie theater while running away) to character critical, like Kensuke's....pretty much his only scene, ever, and Shinji choosing to keep piloting at teh train station. Even so, I tend to tie them, because Operation: Yashima is SO FRAKKING PRETTY in Rebuild, and we do get lots of other fluffy stuff to partially make up for teh cut material.

And yes, 2.22 is completely nuts. Last few minutes will be some of teh craziest of your life, seriously.

A friend of mine and I have been watching all the Rebuild films as they are released. They are fantastic. Usually just before the english dub is released an anime group in our area screens the Japanese sub at a local theatre, so we get to see it a few weeks before it hits DVD/Blu-ray and then again with the dub when it's released.

I'm looking very forward to 3.0,  I hope they announce the North American release soon.

Seriously, I can't wait for 3.0 to get translated.
