...And What About the Wii U?

I agree that the killer app isn't out there for the Wii U yet, and that is a shame. There was speculation that Nintendo Land could possibly fill that slot, but even though it's a great game, it's no Super Mario 64 or even Wii Sports.

Couldn't agree more. It might sound silly to a non-gamer, but it does "hurt" to see all of this negativity out there when you own the system and know it's a ton of fun. I honestly haven't had this much fun with video games for a few years (and I also haven't been as absolutely terrified as Zombi U has left me!)

Most reviews for most mobile/tablet games have been scathing, and it doesn't help much that these platforms tend to host the most pay-to-play games (though an argument could be made for PC, as well). Though pay-to-play isn't entirely evil by nature, a lot of "good" games are really dragged down by ham-fisted attempts at money gouging (Real Racing 3 pops to mind) and draconic gating of content, making the "free-to-play" moniker many games use a huge misnomer. Most should really have subtext akin to: "Free to play... unless you want to experience more than one character and/or level." Something about the "ghost" controls don't appeal to me much, either. I know tablets can emulate thumbsticks, and I've played games that do fairly well, but for me nothing beats the precision having actual, tangible sticks to control.

They are definitely different, and I'm trying my best to withold a final judgment until I have played a nice, broad selection of mobile/tablet games.
