Asphalt: Injection Review

Twice the fun for thirty times the price.

Gameloft is infamous for borrowing heavily from other popular franchises. Asphalt: Injection is no exception; it steals from other arcade racers like Need For Speed and Burnout. While some familiarity can be a good thing, there is little good in Asphalt: Injection.

Dungeon Hunter: Alliance Review

Unless you have four friends to play this locally with, be prepared for a slow and tedious journey.

I wouldn’t say that Dungeon Hunter: Alliance is the worst dungeon crawler I’ve ever played, but it’s not very good either. From the get-go it creates the illusion that it’s going to be a great title within the genre, but it falls apart in execution.

MIA - Earthworm Jim

Searching for the galaxy's grooviest hero.

I don’t know about you all, but I’m not sure I’ve ever been so glad that it’s Friday.  It’s been a long week, I must admit, but now that we’re at the end of it I get to spend some time writing my favorite bi-weekly column.  That’s right kiddies; it’s time for another exciting installment of Missing in Action!

Asphalt 3D Review

Suprisingly, it’s not quite shovelware, but it is the definition of squandered potential.

While I often don’t think the term “mixed bag” says much about a game, I think it speaks to the core of Asphalt 3D quite well. There’s a very even mix of good and bad, offering players what could’ve been a solid racing experience if it weren’t dragged down by some poor AI, technical issues, and cell phone game design. Players will find some solid racing mechanics underneath all the mess, fun tracks complete with shortcuts, as well as an assortment of challenges providing some necessary variety.

Asphalt 3D Preview

If you thought Ridge Racer 3D was going to be your only opportunity to get your 3DS racing fix, you were wrong.

Ubisoft will be delivering stereoscopic 3D arcade racing as well with Asphalt 3D. While not quite as storied a series as Ridge Racer, the series has been through multiple iterations, and purportedly, the latest 3D iteration from Gameloft is the best.

Soul of Darkness Review

The latest from Gameloft is a surprisingly adept Castlevania clone.

Soul of Darkness is the latest mobile to DSiWare port from Gameloft, which can most easily be described as a shameless Castlevania rip-off. If you spend a few minutes with the game, you will see that it features similar character art, gameplay, graphics, and sound to the famous Konami franchise. The game does incorporate some arbitrary use of the system's cameras, which sets the game apart to some degree.

Earthworm Jim Review

A disappointing port of a great game.

When Earthworm Jim initially launched in 1994 it was lauded for its great gameplay and surreal level and character designs. 16 years later, Gameloft has ported Earthworm Jim to DSiWare and while the game is mostly faithful to the Sega Genesis and SNES versions, it unfortunately features many technical faults, which makes this version disappointing and inferior to the original versions.

More information about Gameloft's remake of Earthworm Jim has been uncovered thanks to GamerBytes.
