My Bitter Divorce With Microsoft

The trials and tribulations of console conversion.

Let’s face it, the Xbox One Reveal and all of the events that followed it have been disastrous. Not only has it enraged many gamers and the online community, but it has also caused many of the Microsoft fans to jump aboard the Sony Train.

While making the transition myself, I found myself making startling revelations not only about myself, but about the current generation of consoles as well. Everything you will be reading in the following entries are slightly based on true events, I’m simply choosing the light in which you’ll be viewing them.

This sounds very, very familiar.  I did not move my xbox, but I did unplug it for quite some time.  I will have to return to it at some point.   I currently have no other way to play my copy of Metro:  Last Light, or Dark Souls or any other non-wii or indie pc game.

It is so nice to  know that I am not the only one.

I still play my 360 every so often. Honestly though, I've just been trying to catch up on the PS3 exclusives that I have missed this gen.

I will there back into playing it again. I am just catching up on the Wii, instead of the ps3.  I did not realize that there were so many games that I missed.

I sent you a message with a link to a discussion over on NeoGAF that I thought you might be interested in. I'm eager to get your thoughts on it.

Maybe if we read this original comment backwards it will make more sense...?

You know what's ludicrous,Chris? Certain Xbox fan boys are petitioning to have the Xbox 1 changed back to the way it was originally. Watch this and have your mind blown!

Actually, I'm a HUGE fan of AlphaOmegaSin's rants, so thanks for the share! He's the man!

And yes, it's odd that people are trying to petition the X1 back into its original format.. Not sure what to think of it. Are they aware that the Family Plan they want back only allows for an hour of gameplay before you need to 'check in' with MS?

LOL. I prefer playing multi-platform games on my 360, but those PS3 exclusives are so nice. Good to know you're back to being a regular old gamer again Laughing.

I resent Microsoft for the position it has put me in this upcoming generation. I don't want to miss out on their exclusives, but with Microsoft having taken a non-commital stance when asked if it wouldn't reverse policies again somewhere down the line, I'm just not comfortable with buying an XBox One. As someone who loves videogames at large, it sucks.

I agree.. I'm not very comfortable with the X1 either.

What an emotional roller coaster you rode! I feel very standoffish when it come to Microsoft products in the future. But my 360 has been so good to me I could never exile it from the man room. Sony will be getting first crack at my Christmas bonus money,I assure you.

My 360 has been absolutely great to me! I loved it and it's online features as well as the comfort of its controller. But damn, these PS3 exclusives are great!

For me it's all about the games. I'll get whatever system has the games I want. Which will be ALL eventually. Still not into Kinect though. I don't have one and don't have much of a reason to get it. Steel Batallion did a pottie with Play-Doh, so that killed it for me.

Chris Yarger Community Manager

I think the Kinect could've been better if they had taken a different approach to it instead of solely relying on the body to be the controller!

No matter how you look at it the Xbox 360 is and will always be a good system but..... with that said a conversion from Microsoft to Sony will be my future gaming platform, but i will keep my 360 and my 142 games and play it, and lets face it Microsoft made The Lost Odyssey, Blue Dragon, Halo etc as, 360 exclusives and will never be with Sony, '

I'll always hold my 360 close and dear to my heart. It was a great console!

I can kind of relate to this. After all, after 10 years of being a loyal PlayStation gamer, I temporarily defected to Xbox 360 because of Sony's terrible handling of the PS3 and a few 360 games I wanted that the PS3 lacked. Of course, in my case, it turned out to be a brief affair with Microsoft, who promptly proceeded to drive me away with the same abusive behavior I got out of them with Windows and Sony getting its act together and begging me to take them back. For me, the decision is crystal clear this go-round. PS4 all the way, and I don't have to deal wih MS's BS drama.

I'm really excited for the PS4, I'm just hoping that Dead Rising 3 makes the jump over as a delayed-release between consoles. But from what I've heard, DR3 was completely bought out by Microsoft.. Bummer right?
