PB & Jason Issue 27: Sneak Peek

The NGP is here! And by here, I mean on my PC monitor, but only sometimes. This issue of the podcast deals with it. Things like comparisons between it and the 3DS, launch price, and my opinion of the device's potential performance are all discussed.

Afterward, I get a little mean and rag on a handful of gaming publications out there for a handful of opinions, though the main opinion piece discussed occurred in the '90s. Eerily related, the Konami code comes up, and eventually, the issue of PB & Jason concludes.

No GamePROs were hurt in the making of this podcast.

The podcast is a lie!

btw I think old gaming magazines might make for an interesting article topic.

I left something out of the podcast, but the context in which I found the GamePRO article linked to in the PB&Jason discussion topic on the forums was through a video posted about EarthBound by GamePro mentioned on the same site.

Suffice to say, while the opinion was reversed, the intelligence of the people speaking seemed like it was on a similar level. I haven't read a gaming mag in a long, long time, but I have a feeling that many of them offer only slightly better improvements.

Folks, I thought we were starting a "I play a game you recommend and talk about it on the podcast" thing! I haven't had any recommendations since the last time I did this!

Cubivore. I will suggest another game for you if you can't get a hold of this game for the NGC.

I have it! It's perfect. Cubivore it is! I'll spend some time this weekend playing it.

Oh, and for the record, the things I said I'd link to are in the discussion page on the forums. It's not hard to find.

Metroid Prime 4: Beyond Review

It’s been a long time since we’ve seen an entry in the Metroid Prime series - 18 years, in fact. It was 8 years ago that Metroid Prime 4 was originally announced and its development was more than a little turbulent. Initially developed by Bandai Namco, it was later scrapped completely and development was shifted back to Retro Studios to start the project over. In the end, Retro has delivered a solid new entry in the series, but one that doesn’t totally capture what originally made the series so compelling.
