Games I Can Barely Wait For: Perfect Dark XBLA

My god is this remake looking sexier and sexier.

Today, Rare and Microsoft released a brand new trailer for their upcoming XBLA remake, Perfect Dark.

Back in the day, you'd be hard-pressed to find a bigger Perfect Dark fan than myself. I managed to beat all of the game's missions on Perfect Agent, unlocked every in-game cheat, and nearly reached Level 1 in multiplayer, all without the assistance of a cheat device.

Of course, my original obsession was GoldenEye 007, but upon the release of Perfect Dark, my favorite title rapidly shifted.

There was an intriguing facility to explore, a cool sci-fi story to push the gameplay along, and a boatload of refinements from GoldenEye.

Though a great game, it wasn't without its flaws. At the expense of the framerate, Rare pushed the graphical boundaries of the N64 and produced a stunning looking game. Unfortunately for Perfect Dark, as time has gone on, both the framerate in games and the graphical boundaries have been pushed significantly. As such, Perfect Dark is not exactly playable in its original form these days.

Even in its original form, four-player multiplayer with bots was a laughable experience as it quickly degraded into a slideshow when too many characters were on screen.

As you might expect, my excitement for the upcoming game stems from the fact that its presented in beautiful 1080p at a steady (so they say) 60 frames per second. Not to mention, up-to-eight players will be able to square-off online.

The Xbox 360 controller only helps matters further as my now wobbly N64 control sticks can barely move Joanna Dark forward on the screen.

With the title coming next month, my anticipation is through the roof. Of course I've played the game a million times, and dedicated about a solid year of my life to the original title, but it's beyond exciting that I'll get to relive one of my favorite titles of all time with great controls, framerate and visuals.

I bet not even the power of Perfect Dark 1 can get Nick to purchase a Xbox Live Gold subscription ;).

I am so stoked about this re-release. One of my favorite games of all time being released with online modes. Laptop Guns, Proximity Dragons, and poisoned tipped throwing knives...Oh such heaven.

Anyone up for some : No-Radar, No Farsight matches?

Also note...we don't need to buy the "expansion RAM" this time around.

Technically Microsoft made a lot of "expansion RAM" like the over priced wireless dongle for and overpriced harddrives :P

Multiplayer Perfect Dark with a framerate...my life will soon be complete.
