The backdrop for Wake’s new tale is far removed from Cauldron Lake in the first game, and instead moves into the desert of Arizona. Wake is on the trail of Mr. Scratch, the darkness-created doppleganger featured in the two DLC episodes for Alan Wake: The Signal and The Writer.

Larry Hryb (Major Nelson) announced on his blog the release dates and prices for the titles collectively known as the Xbox Live Arcade House Party 2012. The post also mentioned that if you purchase all four titles between February 15 and March 13, you'll receive 800 Microsoft Points.

Remedy talks about the XBLA game, and announces the first game for PC.

Alan Wake was one of those interesting games that had the misfortune of getting released on the same day as a juggernaut (in this case, Rockstar’s Red Dead Redemption). Even with a protracted development cycle, the cancellation of the PC version, and poor sales, the game garnered enough praise from critics and gamers to warrant a new game for XBLA. Revealed at the Spike TV VGAs, Alan Wake’s American Nightmare looks to be more of the cerebral horror game that the first one was. Or is it?
