NBA Jam: On Fire Edition Coming to PSN & XBLA This October

Boom-Shaka-Laka! This arcade classic gets a second shot.

EA Sports has just announced that it is working on a sequel to their very popular reboot of NBA Jam. This time the only difference is that it’s only available through download. NBA Jam: On Fire Edition brings back the high flying dunks this October for both Xbox Live Arcade and PlayStation Network.

“We're taking everything fans loved about the original and adding a host of new features," said Trey Smith, Line Producer. "We've listened to all of the feedback from our fans and we are driven to deliver the very best NBA JAM experience to date."

This fiery edition will add plenty of new features including a much improved AI system adapted from the Fight Night titles. The system will be able to learn your habits and counter them effectively. New online modes such as the “Road Trip” campaign will allow players to team up and compete in challenges against current superstars and timeless legends. The much requested updatable rosters will finally give Knicks fans the Carmelo fix they’ve been yearning for. Not to mention more superstars, legends, secret teams, and hidden characters in an attempt to make this the must-have NBA Jam experience.

Here’s hoping that EA won’t make us have to pay 50 dollars again for a game that could’ve been easily downloadable in the first place.

Well, the game was an NBA Elite 11 pack-in second. Before that, it was a Wii game meant to cash-in on low production values.

Really, I don't see much of a reason to pay for this if you have what was offered last year. I know I wouldn't without something to prove it's worth it over what's already there. Promise of new AI and updated rosters probably wouldn't do it for me.
