Gears of War 3: Horde Command Delayed

The first piece of DLC isn't quite ready for primetime.

Gears fans are going to have to wait a little longer for the first major piece of DLC, “Horde Command”. The add-on, which is included in the Season Pass if you bought that, was supposed to be available as you read this article, but some last-minute issues prevented that.

“The scheduled Horde Command Pack release for Gears of War 3 is temporarily delayed due to a technical issue,” said Epic Community Manager Will Kinsler on the Epic forums. “We apologize to those of you who are anxiously awaiting(sic) to play. We know this is disappointing news as we’ve seen a lot of posts today showing excitement for this content. We have folks working around the clock to resolve this issue ASAP so you can all play and enjoy the Command Pack.”

On his Twitter feed, Kinsler explained that the issue is a back-end one, and the company has no comment yet on when Horde Command will make it out to the Xbox Live Marketplace. The second piece of DLC, “RAAM’s Shadow”, looks to still be on track for its December release date.

Once I got to play it on the Wii Virtual Console, I finally understood why this game is considered an SNES classic. Super Metroid sports great game design, with a wonderful atmosphere unparalleled on any 16-bit system. At only 30 cents on the Wii U eShop until June 16, there’s little reason to not give this excellent title a shot.
